Christian Coalition Director: Torture OK
Former Christian coalition director argues for torture Ralph Reed, the former director of the Christian Coalition, told Foxs Sean Hannity that he supports the torture interrogation techniques used on terrorism detainees.

Hannity says it's okay because they're not American citizens.

Shameful.

You can't make up more ridiculous shit, I thought I was watching the onion for a moment there..

I mean NITRO lol!

I suspect Hannity himself and hates his show but thinks of it as an authoritarian means to an end.

Re: Christian Coalition Director: Torture OK
I have a great idea. I personally would have less issue with this if they just called it what it was. Torture. Period. If it works, than thats what we should do. Just stop making up bullshit terms like "enhanced interrogation techniques"

Re: Christian Coalition Director: Torture OK
If it wasn't torture then why did these people give up information? Answer that you Fox BS artists.

Oh it was just unpleasant and that was enough was it?

BS, there is only one reason these people would give up information. These people make me sick.

Sean proves again that he can successfully push around a woman, especially when he has the help of a Christian and a former professional athlete.

Re: Christian Coalition Director: Torture OK
Hannity: "People are going to die because of Barack Obama."

Lady: "There are 2000 more terrorists now as a direct result of our response to 911."

Hannity: "Oh, so now you're blaming America."

So to recap, in Hannity's brain cavity:

George Bush=America

Barack Obama=??? (Being friendly, accepting and smart... Canada?)

Re: Christian Coalition Director: Torture OK
Torture requires physical or mental pain. If someone (namely the detainee) feels that he is actually going to drown then I would surmise that waterboarding is torture all be it a lesser form (not by much) than the traditional definition.

I think it's important to mention that the Christian Collation no more represents Christians as a whole than Jessie Jackson represents the black community.

Additionally, what ever you call it, Sean is right in that it works to get information no matter what your stand on it sugar coated (enhanced interrogation with medical personnel on stand-by) or not.

This milk boils down to one simple truth. When push comes to shove, we (those powers that be in the government) are no better than the enemy's powers that be.

Re: Christian Coalition Director: Torture OK
I take it you dont know that we have executed people for waterboarding our soldiers. It is not defined as a lesser crime. It is defined as torture specifically with case precedent.

Waterboarding specifically has been illegal in the USA for over 100 years and specifically we have prosecuted people for waterboarding that were US citizens as well as non Americans (Japanese, Koreans, Chinese).

It is also known torture produces less reliable information than standard interrogation. This is why we dont use it. This is why the military doesnt want to do it.

I hope you don't think I was excusing the procedure.

Re: Christian Coalition Director: Torture OK
Ya you really can't deny the fact that torture produces some results. However, you also can't deny that torture is wrong and against geneva conventions. We have to make a decision here. If we continue to show the world that we don't play by the rules, then this will damage our country's image in the long run. I'm getting tired with the fourth grade mentallity of some people who think the US can do whatever it want's to do and not expect our country to constantly be engaged in wars.

Re: Christian Coalition Director: Torture OK
Yes you can. Torture will cause people to say anything to make it stop. Even make shit up, which is often what they do.

Re: Christian Coalition Director: Torture OK
Ya but if they actually know something then they will probably tell it. In that case they wouldn't have to make anything up. After that, they get waterboarded 180 more times and then have to start making stuff up!

Re: Christian Coalition Director: Torture OK
None of this really matters though. Torture is wrong. That's why the Geneva convention bans it. Pretty easy to figure out!

Re: Christian Coalition Director: Torture OK
To add to Meltingpenguin's comment, you must also realize that there are many other "techniques" that were used, such as sleep deprivation and stress positions, that do no real permanent physical harm but cause severe mental stress. When such "techniques" are used on people, it is unlikely that they can give accurate information.

Re: Christian Coalition Director: Torture OK
Ya but your argument is that our torture techniques aren't efficient. That seems like a weak argument with all due respect. My argument is that it doesn't matter.

When I see someone getting waterboarded or otherwised tortured, it really pisses me off and causes emotional stress for me because I feel like someone should stop it. To me, this in a built-in human instinct telling me something isn't right. It goes against my moral fabric.

Re: Christian Coalition Director: Torture OK
I was just playing devil's advocate. Even if torture works, it shouldn't be done. It goes against pretty much everything the western world has stood for.

The point I was trying to make is that these techniques are not as a effective as most might think.

The only Sean Hannity I ever see is through this website, so I have to know. Does he always pull a bright orange football out of nowhere? Why is that within an arm's reach?

How about some "enhanced pundit" silencing. Or should I say bullet in the head.

Why do they hate America so much? I just don't understand why anyone would want to attack the U.S. or it's people.

War kills our enemies. Torture makes us free.
