A US citizen gets a taste of fascism in his own country. Border patrol guards and other "law enforcement" ogres beat him for no reason on the night of April 14/15, 2009 (between San Diego and Phoenix). Other citizens are warned (for the zillionth time).

This story is a he said she said. If the dog did in fact alert (and they often do it silently) then they did have probable cause to search and his refusal to exit the vehicle constitutes obstruction. I don't know how gentle you can be in extracting someone from a vehicle who is refusing to cooperate but you can't use kid gloves.
I find it strange that the DPS officer said he was under arrest prior to all of this.
He never said what they booked him for.
One last thing. I think that you can call this a lot of things but it is far from "Nazi America". For a second I thought he was going to say wake up white America instead of wake up America.

Right now, I am not into debating whether or not the USA is fascist (which it is), or is overrun with national socialists (which it is), because I am busy snacking on lemming. Mmm ... more healthy than popcorn, that's for sure.
Anyway (swallows a little skull sucked dry), there don't have to be concentration camps belching smoke around the clock in Kansas (where else?*) for the US to be fascist, or do there? Of course not.
* Existing railroads, rooms with a view for "terrorists" (to ease any of the unconscious nagging that might pop up in the brains of any HS Officer or US Gestapo -- psssst, the CIA and Co.), lots of sunny weather to showcase those shining stormtrooper outfits to the local armadillos (armed dildos?), the occasional tornado to blow away bad smells and lingering soot. Hell, the native Americans (almost wiped out back in the day by the intrepid pioneers) were heavily into smoke-signaling festivals in good ol' Kansas. Ah, what a time that was. Horses and falcons and women with their long braided hair. Hunting with Big Bear and Eagle Eye and also Hot Hanna. Yes, White Wolf remembers those days like it all happened a minute ago. Maybe those "terrorists" soon to be locked up in Kansas will find a rabbit hole, too, like Dorothy and her Toto. Makes for sublime literature somewhere down the line.
(Indulge me; and feel free to go berserk when the next major US buildings go up in flames, or the US dollar collapses. Make it wild, so I can continue to poke my nose in my Secret Permafrost Lemming Survival Snack Hideout from time to time. Of course, when things get real wild, I will gently ask my Inuit girls to fetch my lemmings for me.)

Why debate? I'm well aware of the potential of the American Government. I'm also pretty aware of its current state and last I heard its rule (for the most part and generally the pros and cons of its productivity) was bi-partisan. Now don't misinterpret my ( ) for a support of Fascism btw in case that's what you were thinking.
Reminiscent of the good old days of tribal warfare isn't do indifferent than today's conflicts just on a bigger scale. Although I can fairly say I'm not old enough to have been there myself.
I am by no means a Berserker either; although even if read too deeply I love its subtlety.

No, I never thought or said you endorse fascism. I merely think you have yet to be more critical of the US government. It has indeed, as you wrote, "potential" (for harm, as you imply, or I read wrongly), but it's far worse than you (maybe) think now.
Well, our slight misunderstanding is undoubtedly due to my inclination to write tongue-in-cheek stuff, so no hard feelings. It may be true that if I felt like writing serious commentary here, we would all agree on the basics: pussy = good, war = bad.

Of course, W_W, don't forget that even when you write what you call tongue-in-cheek, there's a good chance your readers and you yourself can all agree on the basics.

I can't say if the dog's silent alert is often the case but I can say that his response could have been handled a little more tactfully. I'm thinking instead of making his potentially inflammatory remark about the dog, couldn't have asked an open-ended question, such as "What seems to be the problem sir?"
I, also was a little agitated (maybe not quite the word I am looking for) regarding use of the word Nazi. Not offended but also not at ease.
