Not Working?
On the day Barack Obama was elected the 44th President, more than 58 million voters cast their ballots for John McCain. In the months leading up to this historic election, filmmaker Alexandra Pelosi (HBO's Emmy®-winning "Journeys with George") took a road trip to meet some of the conservative Americans who waited in line for hours to support the GOP ticket, and saw their hopes and dreams evaporate in the wake of that Democratic victory. These voters share their feelings about the changing America in which they live.

No pity, no gloating. This is just result of several hundred million dollars of your money spent.

Re: HBO: Right America Feeling Wronged
They wear t-shirts which say "I am a bitter voter," and then ask for an apology for being called bitter. That's a pretty good working example of the Republican mind-set of late. Pride in victim-hood? Righteous indignation at your own reflection?
Re: HBO: Right America Feeling Wronged
You'll get that everywhere from just about every group. (gunna get hell for this but think of the leaders of the self proclamed "black community".)

Re: HBO: Right America Feeling Wronged
I watched this excellent documentary & I tried so very hard to try & understand the people interviewed here.
People will always disagree...values & philosophies are very personal and 'treading' on those will elicit strong emotions.
I suppose what kept tugging at me was the choice of these people to be distant, the choice to hate or to just dismiss anyone who didn't agree with them. The choice to not be informed beyond their own beliefs or their own group or town or country...and to be proud to be so insular.
I tried but I must say that the people portrayed here absolutely frighten me.

Re: HBO: Right America Feeling Wronged
I just want to know what happened to the hordes of right wingers who, 2004-2008, said it was unpatriotic to question the president.

Re: HBO: Right America Feeling Wronged
They were replaced by hordes of people that voted in a president and then disappeared back into the woodwork.

Re: HBO: Right America Feeling Wronged
Are these morons seriously crying about Mccain losing the election? Talk about emotionally unstable.
Re: HBO: Right America Feeling Wronged
These jerks don't get it. We don't really have a say to begin with. We're just picking one oppressor over another. I feel a mix of pity and contempt for the crying woman saying that she's worried for the country now that Obama's president. She should just be worried.

That was the best definition of socialism I have ever heard.

Re: HBO: Right America Feeling Wronged
Anyone who actually includes the phrase "Fair and Balanced" in their description of FOX News is a complete moron.
There, I've said it.

Re: HBO: Right America Feeling Wronged
I don't know. I suppose I was trying to embrace a spirit of post-partisanship and understanding for the folks on the other side of the ideological aisle.
I don't see the same level of self reflection over there, though. Mostly what I see is a need for reassurance that they are right (no pun intended) in a two-sided conflict. I want to shake so many people and tell them that the world isn't black and white, and that issues are usually pretty complicated necessitating thought and fact gathering and not a knee jerk reaction like U-S-A! U-S-A!
The "Fair and Balanced"(TM) crowd apparently fail to see the irony.

Many people see the same thing you do from the opposing side no matter what point of view your looking at it from.

Re: HBO: Right America Feeling Wronged
Name me an entity in the media that is fair and balanced. Everyones got their agendas.
Re: HBO: Right America Feeling Wronged
I agree with you, pure objectivity is hard to come by from most media outlets. However, I can't think of any besides FOX that so clearly tries to spin itself as a bastion of truth and virtue while at the same time is so obviously not.
When have you ever seen a package of bacon that proclaims itself as "Totally healthy! - No Shit!"?
Would anyone above a third grade education believe it? And if they did they deserve what they get.
