3 Billion years ago cyanobacteria appeared on the planet, changing the course of life on earth. Scientists call this event the Oxygen Catastrophe.
This video discusses the appearance of cyanobacteria and the effect it had on the evolution of life over the next 3 billion years.
Suitable for an introduction to evolution, endosymbiosis and the appearance of photosynthesis and oxygen. The < 10 minute video includes an introduction to iron strata formation and the relationship between cyanobacteria and chloroplasts.

What about all the iron oxide on mars? Oxygen, as a highly volatile and unstable gas, is only found in large quantities in the presence of life. Huh, huh, what about that?

I think you just answered your own question. Iron oxide is not "oxygen, as a highly volatile and unstable GAS."

Maybe you misunderstood. Oxygen is a gas. Iron oxide is iron that has been in the presence of oxygen. The only practical explanation for the massive quantities of iron oxide on Mars (iron oxide is red, and Mars is the red planet) is an oxygen rich atmosphere. An oxygen rich atmosphere, as I understand it, can only come about in the presence of fairly advanced cellular life.

O2 is not required to produce iron oxide. And life is not the only source of natural O2. Sunlight can dissociate hydrogen and oxygen from water molecules.
However life is considered as a possible source of oxygen on Mars.

I'm guessing our foul-mouthed friend is a genuine anti-Jesus-like Jesus freak, as opposed to an aspiring funnyman. Maybe he needs to repent, and learn spelling from a more modern Bible translation.
But what would be best is if he tries to be a little more like Jesus. Just a little.

Either way, he/she seems to be wiping her shoes on the Old Testament, and her ass in the New Testament. I've been thinking of switching to Satanism for a while now, but this clinches it. She's got me inspired to go outside to burn my only bible right now.
