Re: The Best Bus Driver in the World
Can anyone tell me what river/creek that bridge is over? It looks like a really fun one to kayak!

Re: The Best Bus Driver in the World
Unfortunately they don't tell the name of the river. But the bus driver is from Oberweningen in Switzerland, near the borders to Germany and Luxembourg. So I would say this bridge should be somewhere in that area too.

Thanks, that will at least give me a place to start looking.

Re: The Best Bus Driver in the World
This is ridiculous. Any teenager with a driver's license and an advanced high-school understanding of physics could do this. The fact that one set of rear tires has to extend over the side of the bridge is not even remotely risky, as implied by the off camera gasping. What is the danger?? There are two sets of tires back there...do we expect the bus, after extending one set over the edge, to go front-end-over-back off the side of the bridge into the river? As long as there are curbs and power steering, there is no marvel here.
Ridiculous that we let the media tell us what to be "amazed" at.
"But Marge, the music!"

Despite this being the start of me opposing you, I don't even think one would need an understanding of physics.
The real impressive quality of this is the sheer nerves this man has. A bus isn't exactly nimble and he's having to make some very calculated stops and starts with no wiggle room whatsoever. If he goes too far on either side, that bus DOES topple and he's in the river. The fact that everyone one with some level of common sense knows that the furthest two tires can go over the edge without making a difference doesn't really apply in my opinion.
If this were a regular sedan, yes, you're completely right.

Re: The Best Bus Driver in the World
Respectfully, no: At his speeds, the worst that can happen is he puts all the tires on the front, or all the tires on the back, over the edge. The bus bottoms out on the concrete (or stone or whatever) and can no longer move. That's simple lever-and-fulcrum physics. How far does a pencil have to hang off the side of a table before it flips of? The bus is a little different because of the location of its engine, but rest assured that its center of gravity is somewhere between the front of the back tires and the back of the front tires.
I maintain that this is ridiculous and unexciting.

Re: The Best Bus Driver in the World
You're right: blowing up the damn bridge, including the bus (stuffed with children) is much more fun -- and then sell the rights to Hollywood.
Re: The Best Bus Driver in the World
I'm not asking for a Michael Bay movie, I'm just saying add some urgency to it. Have the water level rising, or when they start the timer set the back of the bus on fire, or have a mountain lion in the bus with him.

Re: The Best Bus Driver in the World
I was just kiddin'. Nothing personal. I never get angry with cute anime girls who say O.
Re: The Best Bus Driver in the World
Just to defend myself: The show is german, and as a german I find this as boring as you do. This show is classic senior citizen entertainment back here in old europe. Unfortunately it is still one of the most famous shows here, mainly because every third person is a senior these days. Damn f***ed-up demographics...
