When marking a link as a dupe, please enter the original link id ( in this case 103703 ), that way the new link will redirect to the old one. Otherwise, it just ends up a 404.

I'm confused... why did he flag my link? And why is he now getting credit for it without linking to the actual video anymore?
I'm new to this site and perplexed. As long as people are watching it that's cool I guess, but I don't understand why my link was flagged and now the guy who flagged it is getting credit for it, meanwhile the actual creator of the video is getting zero views on their funny or die video even though it's gotten 25,000 people over to this site from reddit... Doesn't seem fair to me or the videos creator.

I'd say that Blargfrit is half right. The creator of the vid deserves cred for the video, but Blargfrit I don't think credit should be given for resubmitting an old video unless you were to add it as a mirror to the original posting. Stick around a little longer and you'll begin to appreciate the strict focus on new content.

Everyone will sooner or later have the misfortune of posting a duplicate link, even if that person searched the database beforehand. Actually, it happens all the time. Sometimes videos are titled differently or something, which can make it difficult to find out whether there is a duplicate in play.
Anyway, rules are rules. This website would be chaos if anyone were allowed to post links and gather points for these links even if it's a fact that someone else posted that link before.
And you're right: we don't take credit personally for the video if it isn't ours. We just link through and thus share stuff with others. Besides, I see someone updated the description of this link, to give some more credit where credit is due.
Okay, nothing personal, of course. If you keep submitting stuff, one day you might find that someone else posts your web discoveries here as duplicates, and that's when you will probably want to take credit. Maybe you won't whine like I was on the verge of doing, but we'll see.

I'm glad you're not taking this personally and very much hope that you keep submitting items to this site. I like your sense of what fits here. Your submissions surely beat the crap out of my early days here.
