One of the most intriguing stars in the universe is right here on Earth: the eleven pairs of pink fleshy appendages ringing the snout of the star-nosed mole.
The star is an extraordinary touch organ with more than 25,000 minute sensory receptors, called Eimer’s organs, with which this hamster-sized mole feels its way around.
The star-nose dmole is capable of eating his prey faster than any other predator on earth. He can identify and eat a worm in about 320 milliseconds, half the time a human can recognize a red traffic light.

Re: The star-nose mole
That thing looks like something a sex-toy designer might come up with if she (yes, definitely a she) were only allowed artistic freedom from her boss.
Re: The star-nose mole
Freaky sex-toy designers, whether male or female, all spend their working hours chained to damp cellar walls, and are there being monitored constantly by bosses who wear lots of leather. Whips crack when the freaky sex-toy designers don't work hard enough or show any signs of wild originality.
If you now wonder how I know all this, stop wondering and think of something else.

Speaks volumes about adaptation, evolution and survival of the fittest, yes?
