Re: Neil deGrasse Tyson: Bible in Classroom
Well put. I've liked this guy since I saw him on The Daily Show.

I loved his letter to the Times, too. It's not about science vs. religion. In my opinion, they deal with distinctly different aspects of human inquiry.

To me, a religious faith that is not enhanced by the wonder of the physical universe as described by science, is a poor faith indeed. And a scientific mind that is not occasionally struck by religious awe at the marvel of creation, is a small and technical mind.

But the worst of both worlds is when people attempt to justify religion in terms of phony science -- or conversely, dismiss religious feelings out of the "scientific" viewpoint that nothing matters but the measurable, observable physical universe. Both points of view are bankrupt and do disservice to both religion and science.
