That opening really kicked my ass when i've first seen this movie. Thanks for posting this baby. Buy the DVD whenever you find it. It's a jewel.

I watched the opening scene up until just after the argument, but I have no clue what you're referring to.

Re: Ran: Akira Kurosawa
I thought it would have been obvious that these kind of landscapes you see in most Kurosawa's movies are almost like paintings. It's just beautiful. You don't see that i a lot of film. You're instantly thrown into feudal japan with places like that. With horsemen archers facing in all 4 directions, reminding you it's a time of war. The music matching the picture so well it gave me goosebumps when i've first seen the movie. I was too young to have seen it on theater, but i've seen it on a big ass home-cinema with kick ass sound system, in the dark. That really was the shit :)
Can't explain myself better. I found it totally awesome for a movie of its time, knowing it was the kind of movie my father liked and only discovering it 20 years later. That's the kind of moment you feel like your life has been worth living. I just wish i could have a theater where i live where they play classics like this one.

Thank you for coming back and explaining what you meant, I really appreciate that. :)
Yeah I did notice the landscapes, however there is also a lot of compression on the film which probably makes it a harder to appreciate them. Thanks again for the insight.
