Re: Michael Phelps Smokes Marijuana
Wow what spin. Instead of being like, oh an Olympic athlete smoked pot, maybe pot isn't so bad, It's "He's a loser!"
Since when is being an athlete about following the rules?
Also, why didn't he fess up? Get endorsed by Norml.

Re: Michael Phelps Smokes Marijuana
Notice how those who opposed it were upset mothers, and those who were for it were an African American woman and a male football fan. The network tired to use the "morality" associated with a suburban mom (compared with interviews with a "drunk" football fan and subliminal racism a to push the pharma industry's anti-marijuana agenda. At least that is what I say as a filmmaker who knows the tricks of the trade.
Re: Michael Phelps Smokes Marijuana
I'm not saying it's impossible that Time/Warner told these guys to spin this story hard, but I would like to point out the possibility that they might not have. The football fan seemed pretty level-headed, and it's possible that they edited out comments by even less respectable Superbowl fans (ie. rowdy, obviously drunk, etc.). At least that's what I say as a journalist who knows the burdens of the trade; sometimes, you have to work twice as hard just to avoid sounding like you're biased.
Also, his interview with the proponent for legalized marijuana was pretty far from sounding like an O'Reilly-styled tongue lashing.
Let me caveat this by explaining that I'm well-aware that there are plenty of 'legitimate' businesses out there who stand to loose a lot of money if pot were legalized. My point is that to say CNN put a spin on this story is a stretch, compared to how easily they could have made this into a News Corp sponsored PSA.
