Shame on the Netherlands
The tiny and VERY socialist country that would get swamped by the North Sea were it not for heaps of dirt and concrete along its shores and many rivers has reached a new low. It's not rampaging Nazis this time around, but politically correct bastards in The Hague and Amsterdam who're all heavily involved in collectivism.

Oh come on W_W you posted this with all the links to defend Wilders? You know as well as I do that the guy is a complete twat and he doesn't deserve our support even though he might just be incorrectly accused this time.

I'm willing to sign a petition against the accusing party, but nothing for Wilders. That will only make him think he can pull more shit in parliament and it's about time this guy started acting like a politician.

Re: Shame on the Netherlands
I'm preparing to roam the Eternal Tundra, so writing comments here is not really high on my list of priorities anymore. However, since you mention me by name directly, I'll answer. (Not doing so would be rude, eh?) Well, having said that, I've made it known that Wilders's political views or let's say solutions are not to my liking. I won't vote for him. Banning books is despicable. Banning even one opens the floodgates to other idiots wanting to ban others. If that's the way we want to go, 99% of my library would get torched, it's so offensive to many.

Okay, halting the construction of mosques? Why? The guy has obviously never heard of the separation of Church and State. And then something about immigration. Well, I'm for giving all people a chance, so barring immigration is not my thing. If an immigrant can't adapt, he or she will leave eventually -- that is, in a free society. Last time I checked immigrants got free housing and tickets to far-off lands and all that. In the Netherlands you get the best treatment if you are rude and constantly break the law. Maybe you haven't noticed.

So those are my thoughts on Wilders's politics. I applaud him for speaking his mind, though, and sticking to his way of life. He won't budge. I for one fully grant him freedom of speech. If I count all the times Muslims cursed at me on the street, I could've sued half their population. Let 'em speak. If people want to make fun of me, fine. If I want to make fun of people, which I do all the time, indulge me.

Finally, Mr. Wilders is correct in knowing what lies ahead. These Muslims (many of them) will go with the flow if their bigoted leaders gain power, which eventually they probably will. Not meant against Muslims per se, because the same goes for most people. I won't delve into the politics of religion, but I'm sure you know that I think religion is candy for morons. But let them have their wrathful man in the sky (or whatever), as long as they don't force that belief on me. Too bad it often seems to be in their nature to harass people with their ideology, and I sometimes get tears in my eyes reading their demented fabrications, but usually I laugh. (I always like the pictures of the lamb and the lion. It takes a special sort of mind to come up with that.)

Re: Shame on the Netherlands
I work in relatively small company. We are relatively successful, and operate with some profit. Just like any other publically traded business, our top decider is CEO), then it goes down to managers and supervisors...HR doesn’t decide anything related to our product line or sales, but it can impact our productivity by introducing redundant safety measurements, excessive audits, mandatory HR meetings...

Netherlands is relatively small European country. Dutch have relatively successful economy. But, It looks their government is managed by department similar to our Human Resources instead of some form of national leadership.

One employee complained to me he got in trouble because IT department made complaint to HR because they believed his network password is not acceptable. It was “Osama”. He is outspoken 40-year old Slovakian immigrant, fat and hairy, very sarcastic, loves to fart around other people, and he also wears red thong sometimes (visible when he bents to pick up something because his tummy pushes his pants below waste line).

It was funny for me, as his password supposed to be his private thing, as no one should really be exposed to it. So, th risk of him offending anyone is impossible...but...our HR department didn’t think so :)

Maybe I shouldn't comment. everyone has some opinion.. do they really matter..?

Anyhow, I found your comment to be pretty hilarious. This selected segment contains a few dodgy assumptions.

Anyone who isn't biased or doesn't share your particular biases can pick them out with ease.

Here are some of my extremely subjective, irrelevant thoughts on the matter :

Wilders is a far from visionary or even insightful. He has failed in producing an antidote to combat migratory-related problems. He fails to realise that there will not come a great clash of civilisations. He fails to realise that the western way of life isn't worth saving.. that it is wasteful, promotes agrassion (if not by its 'language' than by its overly competitive nature) and is utterly nihilistic.

All this obviously is irrelevant in relation to the guilt or innocence of this self proclaimed martyr for free speech.

If he is silenced or even (unduely?) punished then surely you would not

pin this on all the dutch of on the netherlands as a whole.

Besides, the idea that freedom of speech should be absolute is somewhat retarded.

If the dutch feel that certain things should remain unsaid for whatever reason then it is their right to make this law and have their judicial system enforce this.

Am I a proto-fasciste for saying this?

Don't think so. I'm just not so tightly wrapped up in the highly ideological glorification of 'liberty'.

""Am I a proto-fasciste for saying this?""

Yes. Which makes me think your post is sarcasm. Especially the part about the western world not being worth saving. Good show!

Re: Shame on the Netherlands
Hmm, I don't know this Wilders fellow at all, but to listen to the guy in this video clip, The Netherlands is setting a bad precedent. It's one thing for a country to promote tolerance and respect, but I don't think rulings should be passed to prevent critical statements against religions.

It seems very saddening to me that there are thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of followers of Islam who would relish the prospect of killing me and my family, simply because I am a citizen of the USA. Yet here in the USA, we are supposed to tolerate all religions. It's a difficult concept to reconcile.

I guess I can take some solace in the fact that all followers of Islam aren't so bloodthirsty. In fact, my next-door neighbor is a Muslim, and I trust him with my child. His whole family is great.

Has anyone here ever seen the film that has resulted in this controversy? I don't know if it was submitted here, but I will do it again:

http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=216_1207467783

All Wilders does is play clips of Muslim clerics preaching hate and then displays quotations from the Koran that say similar things.

To quote Glen Reinsford from www.thereligionofpeace.com :

"""These are strange times when a man can be charged with insulting a religion merely for quoting from it.""
