Researchers try to establish the medical benefits of LSD. RT 56:33.

Discovered in 1943 by Swiss chemist Albert Hofmann, D-lysergic acid diethylamide (or LSD) was first used by researchers as a powerful tool to help unlock the mysteries of the human mind. (Much of that pioneering research was done by a team of researchers based in Saskatchewan.) While researchers were determining the medical benefits of LSD, others — like Aldous Huxley and Timothy Leary— promoted the drug as a powerful tool for self-understanding.
