Re: Skewed views of science
this bit has motivated me to get a video media player, so when I come across the idiots who are "right by belief" I have a valid easy to understand way of telling them how wrong they are.

Agreed. The guy that made this is pretty good, and he has several more videos.

Oh, the cheesy graphics could have diminished the message a bit. For those who have a personal bias, that is.
Moi? 5*. Fact and reason always win out over belief.

Re: Skewed Views of Science
Clear and concise. The punch comes in the last minute; I couldn't have said it better myself. The challenge of "If you disagree, either prove your belief or get lost" is great. After all, that's what scientists have to do with each other... prove your belief or get lost.

Re: Skewed Views of Science
"In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion."

Oh man. I know about a dozen people who's heads would explode if they were forced to sit and watch this. This is like kryptonite for idiots. lol

Re: Skewed Views of Science
This video is a work of genius. Unfortunately, the people who really need to learn this stuff aren't going to be willing to do so.
People who believe what they believe just because it makes them feel better aren't open to suggestion. They are willfully ignorant, they intentionally dont learn how to use logic so they can revel in their own ignorance. Being ignorant is infinitely easier than investigating, learning, and expanding your mind. In other words, most stupid people embrace their stupidity like a drug addict embraces his alcohol or nicotine. They're not going to give it up and be mature adults just because they see a video.
