It's funny because french people also get taught english with silly phrases such as "My tailor is rich", "your flower is beautiful" or "Mary goes to the market". Same non-sense.

"Your flower is beautiful" is quite a useful phrase. It has many uses. "Mary goes to the market" is old English slang for "She's offering services at a fair price." I'm not sure what "My tailor is rich" means. Google yields no surprising results there. I guess it means what it says. Try to work that into a conversation. You might as well undress all of a sudden. Same results.

"My tailor is rich" means he knows a guy who knows a guy. It means he's in the family. It means... you know what it means. Pointing out who gets a little respect, and maybe a little off the top is a very important thing to the new guy in town.

but 50 km/h is only like... 30 mph!
That's 20 mph below what the bus had to be doing in Speed, I guess in the French version the bus blows up.
Just proves my theory that the metric system makes everything more tragic.
