Peter Schiff Analogies
Ron Paul economic advisor Peter Schiff uses analogies to describe our current economic crisis. Topics include debt-financed consumption, business cycles, the Federal Reserve, the cronies in Washington, and the modern American service economy.

Re: Peter Schiff Analogies
So if one agrees with the "spending like drunken sailors with nothing to show for it in return" sentiment, how can one agree that the invasion of Iraq ($10 billion monthly price tag) was the proper path to take?

Re: Peter Schiff Analogies
While Peter Schiff was opposed to the Iraq war, and believed FDR's economic policies exacerbated the great depression, he did say it was necessary for FDR to spend billions on military operations in Europe because, in his words, "we needed to defeat fascism."

I happen to believe that we need to confront today's fascism that manifests itself in a volitile world where tyrants work with Islamic terrorists. Hopefully the west doesn't wait until it boils over into full-fledged world war, or another "final solution" towards the Jews, the way FDR did by avoiding conflict with the Nazis for 4 years.

Don't forget the cost of Afghanistan and Obama's covert wars in Pakistan and Tajikistan.

I fail to see how my responding to your inconsequential and irrelevant tangents will add to this conversation, better the experience of visitors to this site or improve the quality of either of our lives.

You can await vindication that the invasion of Iraq was a worthwhile pursuit. I am going to hazard a guess that instead, history will prove this to be the biggest contributory cause of the fall of the United States as an imperialistic power.

Re: Peter Schiff Analogies
The united states cannot fall as an imperial power, because it never was an imperial power.

The united states will fall as an economic power because of our overextension of credit and government interference in our market economy over the past 12 years.

The United states will no longer have the leverage to persecute global terrorists and their fascist support structure. America will no longer be able to support any friend or oppose any foe in the defense of liberty.

The 21st century will be the century of fascism and tyranny, moreso than the last one. And the real imperialists will get their way unopposed. The dream of universal human rights is dead.

Re: Peter Schiff Analogies
It's very sad when you have to ask others to define a term that you obviously do not understand.

Imperialism im'pi(u)reeu`lizm NOUN

1. A policy of extending your rule over foreign countries

2. A political orientation that advocates imperial interests

3. Any instance of aggressive extension of authority

Do any of these apply to the INVASION OF IRAQ?

Why do you constantly feel the need to use tangential practices and to avoid issues that you are confronted with?

Are you even able to answer the question? I've asked it many times in times past yet you are either incapable or unwilling to respond.

I will gladly let others choose to decide.

Once again, when presented with fact, Poophound becomes uncharacteristically silent.

Re: Peter Schiff Analogies
I read the above conversation between you two for the second time. In so doing, I've given myself a bout of howling again and a long-lasting (no, wait for it) grin.

(unrelated) First of all, I can't quite figure out why this video doesn't get a higher rating. Peter Schiff is a very smart and good man. That aside, the Afghanistan and Iraq Invasions may be the best pieces of unintentionally self-destructive US choices ever. Vietnam, unfortunately, came not close enough to breaking the US hegemony; but now the time has come. All the hypocritical, belligerent, idiotic American politicians, aided by the dumb (and a dozen other adjectives, none favorable) masses, now get their asses handed to them. It's a great tragedy that many good people will suffer as a result, including many good Americans. After all, the aggressors won't take this beating lightly. The worst is yet to come.
