The Disappearing Male
Premiered Thursday November 6, 2008 at 9 pm on CBC-TV, RT 44:18.

A CBC documentary about one of the most important, and least publicized, issues facing the human species: the toxic threat to the male reproductive system. The last few decades have seen steady and dramatic increases in the incidence of boys and young men suffering from genital deformities, low sperm count, sperm abnormalities and testicular cancer. At the same time, boys are now far more at risk of suffering from ADHD, autism, Tourette's syndrome, cerebral palsy, and dyslexia. The Disappearing Male takes a close and disturbing look at what many doctors and researchers now suspect are responsible for many of these problems: a class of common chemicals that are ubiquitous in our world. Found in everything from shampoo, sunglasses, meat and dairy products, carpet, cosmetics and baby bottles, they are called "hormone mimicking" or "endocrine disrupting" chemicals and they may be starting to damage the most basic building blocks of human development.

I read an article about this program. Thanks for posting the link.

Re: The Disappearing Male
Well I couldn't watch this whole thing so forgive me if they cover this in the 2nd 2/3rds of the program, but it seems like a bunch of scare tactics to me.

I am sure these people are genuinely concerned, but all I'm seeing is a lot of doomsayers telling us how poisonous our modern environments are, yet offering no solution. Should we give up plastics? Or how about give up our pesticides and reduce the amount of produce our farms can yield.

Seems a little over exaggerated to me...

Re: The Disappearing Male
To each his own. IMHO, this was just a CBC docu, not a sociological solution. When CBS News does an expose on a corrupt businessman on 60 Minutes, do they offer to resolve the problem?

To answer your question, no answer was provided in the remainder of the clip. But by watching, I was informed of an issue that I was not aware of otherwise.

I don't buy it either. I mean, you'd think it would make it easier for a brother to get laid.
