Not Working?
Triumph is conducting a merciless "interview" with Ralph Nader. Be warned: these 7 minutes are painful to watch.

Re: Triumph Poops on Nader
Yesterday I thought, "I'm not gonna post this." Today, I watched the video again and thought, "Why the hell not." Nader fought back admirably, and Triumph always smashes people into the ground. What makes the situation sad, though, is that O'Brien didn't even invite Nader on his show after this vis-à-vis with Triumph. Only the day after the election, I think, did O'Brien invite Nader. That is very disrespectful of O'Brien, in my opinion.
Re: Triumph Poops on Nader
It would have been nice to see Ralph get some more media coverage before the election. The news companies are owned by either the democrats or republicans, effectively blocking out news coverage. He was actually pretty lucky that C-SPAN even covered the 'Third party debates'.

Re: Triumph Poops on Nader
I agree - not inviting Nader on the show is a disappointing move by O'Brien (who I really liked back when I still had a TV set). I mean, even Jerry Springer was on the actual show when Triumph pooped him.
I don't know that much about Nader, but he seems like a sympathetic guy that isn't desperately trying to look smart or cool in that situation, which I guess many others would.
Apart from that, it's weird that 3rd party candidates seem to have such a rotten reputation in America, since, frankly speaking, it's much rather the electoral system that's fucked up. And now people who really do offer alternatives are discriminated because they're blamed for "stealing votes"? Democracy shouldn't be "for or against", that's a policy which has been pursued by the Bush administration for far too long and for far too many people (recalling the invasion in Iraq, which was conveniently part of the "War on Terror"). Either you're with us or you're against us. Black/White is too narrow-minded, and so's Democrat/Republican.

Re: Triumph Poops on Nader
Totally agree...but what is really awesome is...this dude had more integrity than all other candidates combined together. I mean...no other candidate would agree to be interviewed this way, and still remain totally cool with it. I give him credit for that. Unfortunately, it looks honesty is not highly appreciated when it comes to presidential elections.

Re: Triumph Poops on Nader
Do we know for a fact that Conan did not invite Ralph? It is possible that Ralph said he was not able to make it to the show itself until the day after.
We've seen other Triumph bits where the subject was not on the same show.

Don't ever second guess your first instinct. Or something like that.

"Right now the cause is across town banging the UPS guy"
At least Ross Perot had the sense to run only once.
Certainly Ralph did great things for consumer rights, but I just don't think he has the character to be president. I mean just look at the way he so quickly sunk to Triumph's level by using a cranky eastern European ascent.

Re: Triumph Poops on Nader
Hell, Perot ran twice in the same election.
I believe you are correct though in that he did run during a second election, also.

Re: Triumph Poops on Nader
I wish Ralph would follow a strategy of turning this "you made Gore and Kerry lose" thing into a "the Democratic party won't let us vote for more than one one candidate" thing. If they won't support electoral rule changes that let me vote for Nader AND Gore, just so they can shut out the competition, they deserve what they get. But I guess they figure the cost of losing a few elections is worth it, in order to stay nice and cozy with the Republican party.
Saying that running for president is a low-down dirty stunt unless you have a D or R next to your name, and having people actually believe it, only shows how limited the shared American imagination really is.

Re: Triumph Poops on Nader
Yeah. I felt sorry for him too. . . especially when he called Obama an Uncle Tom.
Great political strategy. Friggin muppet with brillo pad hair.

Re: Triumph Poops on Nader
I don't know if some media corp head tells Conan to do something like this, or if he's really as mind-numbingly brainwash as the average American, but what I do know is that this whole skit was stupid and unfunny!
Don't be retarded and think that you have to go out and vote for who the media tells you is a choice to be a "winner" (ie. a Repub or Demo.) but go out and vote for the candidate that represents you MOST. That's what's wrong with this country, too many people willingly don't go out and learn on their own about who is really running for prez.
I think if people actually looked at what they wanted instead of submitting to what the media tells you, Ron Paul or Dennis Kucinich would be the next Prez.
