Re: Mike Huckabee Interviews Richard Dreyfuss
i foresee huckabees show becoming a regular fixture on M&C. he has great guests and has the uncommon trait of actually letting them speak and not cutting them off just before they hit the crux of their argument. this type of a respectful and civilized discussion is refreshing to see. for it to come from fox is mind boggling.

Re: Mike Huckabee Interviews Richard Dreyfuss
Call me a cynic, but I bet Huckabee's show does not translate to success. Not because it's on the network of terribly unfunny and mercifully canceled The Half Hour News Hour. But because there is no chair-throwing or yelling at the liberal side.
OTOH, if he stays on the air, I might just tune in and maybe we all can learn how to be partisan without being militant.

Yeah, right?! Oddly, I find myself watching Huckabee and totally digging his interviews...
Re: Mike Huckabee Interviews Richard Dreyfuss
Ya, Huckabee is cool for a Christian conservative. He's exactly the kind of role model that the right should be breeding...
... if those with a large invested interest in a hysterical and more ignorant America were down with it, that is.
I think that with a liberal presidency and a liberal house, it's going to force the Rupert Murdoch's to the Karl Rove's to make some serious strategy changes. My guess is, that, whether they wise up to the facts or not, the voter landscape is changing: it's no longer in fashion to hell "LIBERAL", and expect a favorable reaction from the audience.
Am I right? It has to have gotten even a tad old for them by now? Well, some of them seem to have had enough of the Bush BS. Some have gotta be ready to for new attitudes and perspectives.
Ok, who am I kidding. FOX jerkoffs will always use attack douchedogs. Always. Why? Because it's actually more exciting to watch... and liberal viewpoints are usually too full of common sense.
Common sense is fucking boring.
Besides, change is hard for the slow witted. They like things to stay the way they are. So if FOX goes all soft and pinko, they'll instead be tuning into wrestling or nascar or evangelist preachers who keep humbly asking for their money. God bless em.
However, I'm feeling optimistic that MikeHuckabee - a guy who lets a smug yet profoundly apt actor take his time to express his views and criticize the network - is getting a chance; getting some time with their moron audience. Cool.
I didn't get the impression Huckabee just let Dreyfuss get away from him. No, he seemed pretty genuine about being an active listening, as opposed to being an aggro spin doctoring discussion killer (ie Billo).
I guess Huckabee is a test for FOX. If he bites... perhaps we'll see a softer, more cuddly mind control in the years to come.
Hmm

Yeah, Huckabee is a voice for reason from the other side (for me). I like him. He's Mister Rogers for grown-ups.

Re: Mike Huckabee Interviews Richard Dreyfuss
Regardless of what you think of Dreyfuss or Huckabee, this video's general theme is powerful and non-partisan:
Short attention-spans lead to lots of sad conflicts, so taking time to think and to appreciate one's freedom helps everybody out and elevates discussions, while sound-bytes and unadulterated attention-seeking are hurtful to them.
