This is from an official Prop 8 rally in Sacramento on 10/28. Brad Dacus, an official Prop 8 spokesperson is speaking.
Here's the transcript:
"There was another time in history when people, when the bell tolled. And the question was whether or not they were going to hear it. The time was during Nazi Germany with Adolf Hitler. You see he brought crowds of clergy together to assure them that he was going to look after the church. And one of the members, bold and courageous, Reverend Niemand (sp?) made his way to the front and (inaudible) said "Hitler, we are not concerned about the church. Jesus Christ will take care of the church. We are concerned about the soul of Germany." Embarrassed and chagrined, his peers quickly shuffled him to the back. And as they did Adolf Hitler said, "The soul of Germany, you can leave that to me." And they did, and because they did bombs did not only fall upon the nation of Germany, but also upon the church and their testimony to this very day. Let us not make that mistake folks. Let us hear the bell! Vote on Proposition 8!"

Current polls show close to a 50/50 split on Prop 8, so it's only half full of homophobes. Of course, I'm an optimist, so I view it as half empty of homophobes.... :-)

Yeah, he had that thing for young blonde boys in knee-high boots.
The whole Nazi aesthetic was quite campy if you think about it. (Sorry - the pun in this case is truly unintended, but there's no substitute for the word "campy.")
They were kind of wonderfully ridiculous, or at least would be if they hadn't been such efficient murderers.

Religion does not equal relationship
relationship=understanding
relationship=willful growth
relationship=togetherness
relationship=it works
relationship=love
To me, religion is for people who don't know how to have a relationship, because a religion of full or "do's" and "don'ts". A relationship cannot be "mapped out" because it is unique and special just to myself. You have your relationship with your God, and I have my relationship with my God.
Do you have a religion with your parents? I think not.

I'll just throw in that all of the Episcopal Bishops in California have spoken out vocally against Prop 8. My personal Bishop, Jon J. Bruno, is incredibly supportive of gay rights. He even has a season subscription to the Los Angeles Gay Men's Chorus!

Yeah, I don't like that the crazy Christians (just like the crazy Muslims) get to tarnish the whole religion.
I actually know quite a number of sincere and practicing Christians who would never get behind this kind of hateful stuff. They come more from the school of "judge not, lest ye be judged." And the people I am thinking of are smart, compassionate, cultured and open-minded people -- but quite committed to Christianity.
Bigotry against any religion is unwise.
