Re: Bill Clinton Joins Barack Obama in Florida
I know what Obama said to his and Clinton's advisers. He said "How can we steal from the American people but make them think we saved them, and how can we make a buck in the process?"

this is a personal attack on you white_wolf: based on your comments to other posts it is clear that you have a very fragile self-esteem, mostly based on group-pride. Your opinions are shallow and nationalistically self serving. Fuck off. You're a total sucker. You're totally out of touch with reality (I don't even have to guess) in your rural or sub-urban life. Go to hell.

And who the fuck are you to judge one like you're doing right now? If you pretend to have read W_W's comments, you should know that almost all his post are containing second degree (if not more) humor. Sure it can be cynical or maybe to intelligent for your to understand... because the way you take it like you do now doesn't help you to be considered as someone clever at all. We're curently having a bunch of "calling to vote" videos right now... but you sir (and this is a personal attack on you) i suggest that you don't. ever! Whatever the country you might be from. With such a poor judgement, it can only leads to the worst.

Re: Bill Clinton Joins Barack Obama in Florida
hillarious, I was with you during your first sentence, I was like, ooh, gosh, you're right, who the fuck am I to so carelessly comment on a dick-hole's comment. But then I read the rest of what you had to say and have decided to re-iterate my first comments. White-wolf, you spoke too soon, that's it: sometimes it's best to keep the lips shut. And this was such a case. You're an outsider and might want to keep your conspiratorial conjecture in a less accusatory tone, you have (relatively) no say anyway. Why not make your case for how US poilicy affects the rest of the world rather than simply saying that it's all corrupt.

Also, comma after that second "said".

Re: Bill Clinton Joins Barack Obama in Florida
Isn't that optional in such cases? I deliberately went for the less literary variant here. You're probably right, though. BUT, now it's my turn to dissect your sentence ... Let's start (and end) with your strategic placement of the period. I think "said." looks a lot better than "said". It's a rule that differs from country to country, I admit.

(Correct) "Hello," he said.

(Incorrect) "Hello", he said.

However,

(Correct) ... great "stuff"; blah blah"

(Incorrect) ... great "stuff;" blah blah

Re: Bill Clinton Joins Barack Obama in Florida
I on't mind if someone corrects me because I'm no expert (Podwall, where are you when we need you?) but here is how I learned the rules of periods and commas in quotes:

Place a comma after the closing quote if followed by an action verb (said, commented, voiced exclaimed) but within if the sentence will continue with another opening quote.

Place a period within the closing quote if it was the end of a literal quotation and the sentence was coming to an end but place the period following the closing quotation mark if it was used to describe something rather than an utterance.

Yeah, who cares, really. I was mostly being ironic after the outright offensive leveled at you...try to ease the tension a bit.

Re: Bill Clinton Joins Barack Obama in Florida
Also, you left the comma out altogether, and that's a pretty vague rule about inside or outside the quotation marks. I've seen it called correct either way. It's like splitting an infinitive or starting a sentence with a conjunction - pedants get all bent out of shape, but people cut from the cloth of great literary tradition admit that they are pointless rules oft broken by great writers, like me in this next sentence.

But mostly I was just trying to ease the tension a bit.
