Now, I'm not cable TV network programmer. (if I was, there'd be nuthin' but "very special episodes" of Diff'rent Strokes and music videos by The Nuge!) But it seems being funny is exactly what Hughley was tapped to do. (and thus help CNN try to capture some of that most-desired demo of young people currently flocked to The Daily Show...)

And isn't that what he's doing here? Or was he tapped to do something completely different?

Naturally, folks will differ on whether he's funny or not funny. That's a matter of stylistics and personal taste. Personally, I like him. Hughley had that crappy sitcom that I thought sucked. But he was also taking risks and being political in his stand-up back when most comedians were steering clear for a while. Now that said, I don't care if anyone else likes him. Hughley ain't sending me any monthly checks.

But I'm not sure comparing someone to Palin equates to something so mundane and every-day as a person simply not doing a good job at what they were hired to do. That sounds like most workers in the world.

Invoking Palin's name seems to indicate something vastly more extremist and potentially dangerous. Perhaps this was just hyperbole?

But if not, how is Hughley the Palin of talk show hosts? Oh wait...did Hughley have a veteran talk show co-host whose career and name he ruined in a matter of weeks? :)
