Amazing how believers always attach belief to me. Facts require no belief... but then, this is becoming like the atheist hour in Austin... Facts do require research, and ultimately, may require investigation and experimentation to reprove something that could have been elucidated, but surely, you believers can understand the difference between fact and belief? surely?

Huh? Not only is that sentence nonsense on a grammatical level, but if it meant what you wanted it to mean, then it would be impossible to not believe in not believing. Christians believe in not believing in Zeus. Buddhists believe not believing in the Holy Trinity.
The only way to not believe in not believing would be to deny everything. The set of things atheists believe in is often quite large- they just try to limit that set to things that can be proven true.
I mean, for the philosophically inclined, all science is based on belief, as it is impossible to provide an adequate basis for inductive logic. The neat thing about the belief in science is that its results can be replicated and its predictions can be verified.

Are you trying to say a-theists are funny because of some hypocritical faith-based element within their ideology? Or are you merely trying to destroy whatever meaning the word "believe" could have by using it in such a beguiling manner?

i'll explain with an example: bill maher's new documentary "religulous" has him going on and on about how he only made the documentary to place doubt in people's minds with regards to their religious beliefs. what he doesn't seem to get is what hypocrisy that is. because it's obvious there is no room for doubt in his mind; he made up his mind a long time ago. but, he ridicules those who are religious for having as fervent a belief in god as he has in there not being a god.

Actually, Maher has stated recently (somehone help me because it was in a clip posted here) how he has become less certain as he has grown older and wouldn't want to be a hypocrite.

I have a novel idea...Why don't we create a country where everybody can join any church they want and believe in any god they want; and those who don't choose to believe in god are scorned, ridiculed and kicked to the curb.
