Has Rush Limbaugh Gone Too Far With "Barack The Magic Negro"

Re: "Barack the Magic Negro"
And too white to say "negro." On the other hand he is old enough.

Seen the clip before, never considered submitting it. Hats off to Griff.

Re: "Barack the Magic Negro"
Considering the history of the US and what has happened to some former prominent black leaders, I consider this kind of "humor" very dangerous. All it takes is one hillbilly with a gun that thinks he is a 'true patriot' and 'protecting our country' to set us back another 50 years...again.
Just look how quickly things turned ugly at the McCain/Palin rallies with their inflammatory speeches. Palin being the worse of the two. It doesn't take much to bring out the worst in some people.

Re: "Barack the Magic Negro"
Judging from the way Palin makes it clear that she enjoys the cries of "kill Obama" that come from her audiences, I wonder if they're hoping to whip up enough public hatred against him that some delusional psycho will kill him before the election. I don't remember ever seeing anything like that from a political rally since the days of George Wallace and Lester Maddox. Barack Obama is a brave man to put himself where he is in history.
Re: "Barack the Magic Negro"
It really just shows what these far right ideologues keep denying -- they are still very much racists at heart.

Re: Rush Limbaugh Calls Barack the Magic Negro
Of course he says it's satire, but like all ignorant humor, if it doesn't really reveal any truth, where's the wit?
Hella people are up on this shit with Obama's skin, McCain's age and Pallin's vagina. Bristol's fetus, too. Sometimes it's just an excuse to be cruel.
The older I get, the more I feel free speech is completely defensible, but that people have every right to be called out on every single thing they say. Yeah, say whatever stupid ass shit you want to say, motherfucker. Just fully own what you say and accept the consequences. You want to talk like a man, Rush? Take your lumps like a man, and don't go crying like a little bitch whose pussy's all sore because someone questioned your motives.

Re: Rush Limbaugh Calls Barack the Magic Negro
There's a difference between CAN you say something and SHOULD you say something.
Limbaugh's satire is right up there with a lot of other shock comedy that goes too far. I wouldn't bridge his ability to say it, but that doesn't mean it's honorable, intelligent or funny. None of those things are happening here.
We're in an idea market where we're getting more and more crap dumped on us. We should be looking for something better, but we're settling for what's on the shelf.
I agree, you have to take responsibility for what you say. If people get pissed about this and have something to say back to Rush, he should shut up and accept it. But the level of discourse is getting so vile and lowbrow, he has a valid defense when he says, "some people out there think it's funny." When "comedy" like this comes around, it's our job to tell him he's wrong.

Re: Rush Limbaugh Calls Barack the Magic Negro
You know, I look at Howard Stern as the best example of the "shock jocks." He often goes too far and (even as a longtime fan from his earliest days) I have often been offended by him.
But the bottom line is -- he's funny.
Rush is not funny.
So all you're left with is the racism.
