This is actually my favorite movie. Really! People think I'm joking but there is quite a lot of depth going on in this film. Sure, it isn't Kierkegaard, but it's fun.

Re: Joe vs The Volcano - Joe Quits
I've only seen this movie on TV, and only after things get really silly. And I always think to myself, "Ah, Hanks, your career had such humble beginnings. How'd you go from this, Bachelor Party, Mr. Mom, and Bosom Buddies, to being one of the most respected people in Hollywood?"
But I can see now that there's more to this movie than I realized. I'll have to give it another look. (My Netflix queue is loaded with movies I discovered or rediscovered one clip at a time here on M&C.)

Please note: Michael Keaton, not Hanks, was Mr. Mom, and brilliantly so.
As far as Hanks's career, the turn came with Philadelphia, and the seriousness continued from there. Now, I loved Apollo 13, Private Ryan, Band of Brothers (which he produced), Castaway (mostly) and other serious Hanks roles, but Lord, I'd LOVE to see him in a totally inappropriate, silly comedic role these days. I mean, really, how long has it been? Look at Splash, or even The Money Pit, for all its flaws. He's gotta have some fun left in him somewhere, dontcha think?

Ah yeah... such a rockin' flick! for anyone who's only seen it on TV, go rent it, they always edit for time. It's really great if you watch it all the way through. Also, if you're feeling pretty stagnant it's a great pick-me-up film. Thanks for posting!

Ah! The days when Meg Ryan had only *just* become typecast as the quirky/dorky/cute love interest!
Loved this film...
