Sarah Palin: Against Women's Reproductive Rights
CBS Evening News, September 30, 2008. Katie Couric asks Sarah Palin about her stance on abortion - specifically in the cases of incest and rape - and the "morning after" pill RU486.

Notice that Sarah Palin only says a woman shouldn't go to jail for aborting their rapist's baby. She's being honest about that. But what she's not mentioning is that the anti-choice movement is trying to make it illegal for doctors to perform abortions. Those doctors who do perform them would go to jail.

Re: Sarah Palin Explains Why Women Should Be Forced to Bear Their Rapists' Babies
People need to stop being idealists on this issue. No one wants to be in the position to have an abortion. But, people always will. Work from the reality of the situation and try to reduce the likelihood of needing one. Just say NO to sex and abortions doesn't work. Just like it doesn't work with drugs.

"Just say NO to sex and abortions doesn't work."

What if... we start a new moral ad campaign with the slogan:

Just Say You'll Think It Over And Make An Informed Decision Afterwards When You Are Ready

Hmmm... kinda long winded, eh? Ok, let's go with: Just Say YES!

Figure a positive message would be a refreshing change of pace. You know, something fun for the kids. Why not? Let em enjoy life. What the heck. Sure wish adults had handed me a condom and a joint and said have at 'er.

Why should kids have to suffer? Sex and drugs are best when your young. It's the time for it.

Also, abortion is nobodies business. Especially not the state.

Re: Sarah Palin Explains Why Women Should Be Forced to Bear Their Rapists' Babies
please tell me your being sarcastic. this is why your wrong in so many level. it needs to be that states' business because illegitimate children effect more than just the parents. I understand kids are going to have sex. I am pro choice (with limits). meaning, i dont believe it hould be used as a birth controll. like an Oops factor. schools need to teach about safe sex cause no one can hide sex. cause sex is simply, FANTASTIC on oh so many levels. ( except anal. eww lol). BUT to my point. When you start having kids 16, 17 years old having children, it is nearly impossible for them to support their life, get an education, and get a good job with a child to take care of. Then you have them working dead end jobs. then their kids are going to live a life of poverty. With the amount of people we have on the poverty level now, we dont need to make it bigger. the education gap is already f*cked. so having more illigetimate kids in the poverty line is going to effect SOCIETY. so in part, the state needs to be involved.

Re: Sarah Palin Explains Why Women Should Be Forced to Bear Their Rapists' Babies
Totally agreed. And we need to take it one or two steps further: Kids will have sex. It's a given. Pregnancies will result. It's a fact. Women who don't want children will get abortions. Shall we have some clown with a dirty wire hanger do it or shall we have medical professionals perform the procedure? Bury your head in the sand and not admit to it?

Re: Sarah Palin: Against Women's Reproductive Rights
Of course people will choose to believe that life starts at the moment of conception. Why? Because that belief still conveniently allows them to believe in a just and good God who isn't directly responsible for sending millions of little potential lifes to their deaths through his grotesquely incompetent design of the male and female reproductive systems.

I enjoy what George Carlin had to say on the matter: "People say life begins at conception; I say life began about a billion years ago and it's a continuous process."

Re: Sarah Palin: Against Women's Reproductive Rights
First there needs to be a general consensus on when life actually does begin. What does science support? That life begins at fertilization? At the first beat of the heart? When it becomes an embryo?

Both sides can take which ever side they feel is convenient to their interests.

Re: Sarah Palin: Against Women's Reproductive Rights
There doesn't need be a consensus on when life begins. Good luck pushing that idea.

I can fully appreciate that a good deal of abortions occur once the baby is commonly acknowledged to be living (has its own heartbeat), but I've no qualms against it dying be it the mother's wish because a fetus, at all times, is fully dependent upon the mother for its continued existence.

Re: Sarah Palin: Against Women's Reproductive Rights
The issue isn't when it's "alive," the issue is when it looks human enough for people to give a shit.

The germ cells that produce the zygote are alive.

You could make arguments as to when it is sentient. But even as such, not knowing what death is almost removes the cruelty of it as well. If delicious animals were aware and afraid of death then I might care a little more about eating them. Instead, in the real world beyond PETA and Disney movies, you can shoot a buffalo dead and the one standing next to it won't move. Animals are stupid.

And now I don't remember where my point was going... I just want to eat some meat.

Re: Sarah Palin: Against Women's Reproductive Rights
Sorry dude. The constitution clearly says that life begins when the Foetus becomes "viable outside the womb albeit with medical attention." If you believe its fertilization , heart beat, brain activity, or anything else then you don't believe in our constitution. This is what 6 unelected unaccountable judges said in 1973, so it must be true.

Also, the constitution clearly says that states, if they so desire, can establish the right to murder unwanted human beings as long as they have not exited the birth canal.

If you disagree then you simply have the incorrect opinion, and it cannot be represented by your democratically elected government.

Re: Sarah Palin: Against Women's Reproductive Rights
You're conflating the Supreme Court with the Constitution. The Supreme Court is subject to the Constitution. The Supreme Court doesn't and shouldn't dictate what the Constitution says; the Constitution dictates what the Supreme Court should say.

Also, the Constitution acknowledges that it does not represent the Truth, hence the ability to amend the Constitution. If it were infallible, it wouldn't be amendable. Thus, disagreeing with the Constitution doesn't mean your opinion is "incorrect," (if opinions can be incorrect) nor does it mean that you don't believe in the Constitution. The document itself recognizes that it may be in error.

Re: Sarah Palin: Against Women's Reproductive Rights
Supreme Court interperts the Constitution. So yes they do say what the Constituion implies, the SC is just limited by why the constituion explicitly states.

Besides, the constitution says nothing about abortion or what a living person is. So technically, anything goes, unless the Supreme court says that by 'Person' the constitution means 'viable life outside of the womb', then it thats what 'Person' means, untill the Supreme Court change's it's standing.

Also, there is NO SUCH THING as "Reproductive Rights". Such Rights are not given in the Constitution and you can't make up rights, unless via amendments.

Re: Sarah Palin: Against Women's Reproductive Rights
I like how she references the case of a young girl getting raped by her father as "absolutely... less than ideal."

Couldn't think of a better way to say inhuman? Some polliticians forget which sentiments are supposed to be sugar-coated and, on the flip side, when it's okay to say what's really on your mind.

Palin seems to lack the tact of a free and quick thinker.

Re: Sarah Palin: Against Women's Reproductive Rights
WHOA there: RU-486 and Planned B ARE NOT THE SAME THING AT ALL. Planned B is a high dose of hormones, similar to taking a bunch of birth control pills at the same time within 5 days of unprotected sex--that is, you won't become pregnant. If you already are, tough shit.

You can buy this emergency contraception some places without a prescription if you're over 18.

Mifepristone(RU-486) is a pill that will cause the body to terminate a pregnancy (medical abortion) within 49 days. You need to see a doctor for this and go through all the consultations and shit that you need to to get an abortion, and if you're too far along you need to get a surgical abortion (the more gruesome kind).

What the hell has this Palin woman with counseling? Counsel this, counsel that. Just tell you'd outlaw it, Palin. People like you don't counsel; they exert their will over others. But by all means keep lying. And good luck debating Biden (*snorts*)

"Culture of life" -- That's rich.

They don't seem so pro-life on the topic of aggressive warfare.

Re: Sarah Palin: Against Women's Reproductive Rights
Why is that, ya think? How can they believe it's oaky-dokey to preemptively kill large masses of people (directly and indirectly), yet terminating any unwanted pregnancy is somehow immoral? WTW? Makes no freakin sense.

I am disgusted that religion plays such a role in US elections. So not like Canada. Ya, faith is mentioned but it is never a major talking point or even a significant factor amongst most voters. Certainly odd to me how many people are so hung up on God down there. Shame really.

People need to, at the very least, leave that shit at home.

I tell ya, if I was a woman who needed an abortion. I'd be using a Louisville Sugger to make my way through a protest.

Although, ya don't have to be a woman to hate those 'pro-life' SOB's -- just have to be paying attention.

Why have your body raped for just a few hours when you can make that rape last nine months!

^^^ lol, well said!

And it reminds me of the famous pro-life challenge: "What if *you* had been aborted?".

Usually, I'll reply something like, "Then I wouldn't be here listening to your ridiculous theoretical questions".

Re: Sarah Palin: Against Women's Reproductive Rights
A rape lasting just a few hours? That is some rape, Faffy. Who was the rapist? John McCain, who had to warm himself up first?

McCain to pretty woman alone in woods: "Hello there, young'un; I'll be your rapist today. But first would you please hand me a glass of water, because I need to swallow these here pills."

Woman: *screams*

McCain: "Now, now, no need to voice your delight."

Author's note: Yes, it's true that McCain is separated from the real world.

Woman (sprays a very strong pepper spray directly into McCain's eyes; it's actually designed to keep grizzly bears at a safe distance): "Here, take that!"

McCain: *crashes into an oak, ash, birch, beech, and some more oaks, all in that order* (A family of spotted owls wakes up, and poop on McCain's head from their front branch.)

Woman: "Dirty old man. That'll teach ya."

Re: Sarah Palin: Against Women's Reproductive Rights
WOMEN - DO NOT VOTE FOR HER (MC CAIN) BECAUSE SHE IS A WOMAN. SHE IS ANTI-WOMEN'S RIGHTS AND ANTI-WOMAN!!!!!!

Yes, because if I am raped, I definitely want the government to FORCE me to endure 9 months of pregnancy followed by one of the most painful events that can happen to the human body (also known as birth) and the delivery of the evil seed of the man that raped me as well. Nothing like the painful reminder and trauma of a ruined body with stretch marks and a stretched vagina for a child that you haven't even chosen to conceive. Makes a lot of sense.

Re: Sarah Palin: Against Women's Reproductive Rights
Also if you're raped and you want to complain about it and maybe get the person who raped you arrested and convicted you must pay an exorbitant amount of money.

Palin forces women to pay for the rape kits that are required to produce the evidence needed to convict rapists.

On abortion, it's fine to be for or against. If you're against, don't have one.

The real questions is, 'when does the fetus stop being a part of the woman's body?' When it is born.

People can do what they want with their bodies.

Under the same logic as those who want abortion made illegal pregnant women should be under a strict diet. If they waver from that diet they should be arrested for child abuse.

If women vote for her because she has a Vagina, all men should vote Obama because he has a penis.

(McCain's was removed years ago by George Bush).

Re: Sarah Palin: Against Women's Reproductive Rights
As dumb as she is why keep posting Palin video's? Can't we remove any future need for them by simply altering the M&C homepage to, "Anythig Sarah Palin says we disagree with". More comedy would be good, I enjoy most of Spam's postings. (all cliched references to Mrs Palin being comedic enough noted, so don't trouble yourselves)
