Re: I'm a Little Confused
Yeah, I like how advocates of Ignorance-Only Sex Education claim that abstinence is 100% effective. Judging by all the round bellies at the local Catholic girls' school, I'd say abstinence plus condoms beats plain-old abstinance.
Re: I'm a Little Confused
"Yeah, I like how advocates of Ignorance-Only Sex Education claim that abstinence is 100% effective."
Abstinence works every time its tried. Remember, Bristol Palin never got pregnant when she was abstinant. She only got pregnant AFTER she fucked somebody.

Re: I'm a Little Confused
The success rate of abstinence is slightly less remarkable than the failure rate of abstinence-only sex-ed.
On a side note, I find it ironic when Christians argue that abstinence is %100 successful. Isn't that arguing against one of the central tenets of the entire religion?

Re: I'm a Little Confused
True, true... Abstinence is the only method that is 100% effective. Let's teach it!
Well...except for homosexuality. That's 100% effective, right? So let's teach that, too! Bear down, First Dude!
Oh, were we only talking about hetero sex and pregnancies? What about gay sex? STDs? Emotions?
Because not everyone is a Christian. So if you start teaching abstinence, you have to teach condoms. And the rhythm method. And pulling out early and doing it on someone's stomach.
All good methods, really. :)
Sorry, I'm kind of making fun because this topic is hilarious. (Psst...people will have sex. It's going to happen.)
That said, I actually agree people should wait. But if we want them to wait, some clinical teaching about abstinence won't do sh!t. We'd be far better off criminalizing all the overtly sexualized commercials and consumer products.
Oh, and we'll have to surgically remove folks' hormones. Biologically, humans are driven to breed. Uh oh...someone sounds like one 'o them "pointy-head elite 'scientists' up in an ivory tower..." :)
Honestly, sex is probably going to happen. If Parents want to put it off as long as possible, they should should be the first-line of education on this topic. They should be intelligent, available, and willing to have a frank discussion on both biology and their personal morality.
Not the State.
We should never look to the State for our morality. I'm constantly amazed when people who claim to be Republicans and say they want "smaller government" advocate for the State to dictate morality. I mean, have you not seen Congress? That's who you want legislating morality? Wow.
This losing battle is why Republicans have no credibility any more. They've told others what to do for years while they have gay public sex, get pregnant out of wedlock, cheat, etc.
I'd much rather present people with the option of using a condom rather they get STDs, not have health care, and run up our nation's medical bills...

Re: I'm a Little Confused
I'm always confused why the promoters of abstinence-only sex education are so against porn.
I mean, sitting around in a darkened room masturbating to porn is surely a great way to stay abstinent, isn't it?

Re: I'm a Little Confused
Obama and Biden don't even have to say a word in the debates to win; press Play will do just fine. Of course, McCain can do the same thing, with blatant propaganda videos, so there needs to be an independent something that checks the videos for accuracy. Ads in between are not allowed, just so that you know. By the way, this video would be a direct hit.
Re: I'm a Little Confused
This would be a direct hit - as a blatant propaganda video. If they want to get personal and talk about palins daughter or McCain's divorce, I'd like to see the video that mentions the following:
Barack's abusive, polygamist father, his kenyan citizenship, childhood in "exotic" indonesia, registration as a muslim in elementary school, attendance at mosques and the reciting of the Shahada at age 10, Doin' blow and and sleeping around in college, his close association with Reverend Wright, Frank Marshall Davis and Bill Ayers, his work with ACORN to pressure banks to give sub-prime mortgages to poor people who didn't report their true income, his wife never being proud of her country until Obama was nominated, That he voted present 130 times in the state senate - higher than anyone else, that his district is worse off now than when he got elected, that he supported hospital-mediated infanticide, that he never drafted any legislation ever, that he recieved more money from Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac lobbyists than anyone else in the senate (except Dodd), that he requested nearly 1 billion $ in earmarks throughout his carrer, with 100 million $ in 2007 alone while McCain has never requested a single earmark in his entire career. Among other things.
Maybe thats why people are skeptical of Obama, rather than these straw men built up by this propaganda video.

Re: I'm a Little Confused
"anti-female" -- love it.
And I know you're sincere since all you freepers and ditto-heads never once used gender-based criticisms of Hillary Clinton. Such as accusing her of crying on the campaign trail when her voice caught for a millisecond, for example, even though W. and Reagan both shed copious tears at various times during their tenancy in the White House. Nope, all you guys were sincerely respectful of her gender, and argued against only on the weight of her ideas.
PS If McCain had chosen a female vp with even half of Hillary's smarts and experience, you guys wouldn't be in this mess would you?

Re: I'm a Little Confused
I never liked Hillary from waaaaaaay back when she intentionally moved to NY state and flouted residency rules to become a senator of a 'more prominent' state in order to become president, or so she hoped. I despise such transparent disregard for regulations and voter intelligence.
And as for her crying/caught voice, the reason it was so highly suspect was because she never showed an iota of emotion throughout any moment her public for the past 15 years.
Is it possible that she realized her long-term aspirations, what she worked so hard for, was about to fly apart due to some junior senator with more hope and appeal than you can shake a stick at? However, it is equally possible that, realizing the same thing, she used that moment as a calculated last ditch attempt to sway New Hampshire(it was NH, wasn't it?).
Based on the non-existence of any prior emotions from the First Robot, and the Clinton's political shrewdness, to NOT cast suspicion on her tears would be the foolish thing to do. Hence we doubt the authenticity.

Re: I'm a Little Confused
Sure, there's plenty of stuff that can be used against Obama -- but some of the things you mentioned don't qualify as fair to use. For example, why hold Barack's abusive and polygamist father against him? What real importance has his once dual citizenship, Kenyan and US, on his political worth? Exotic Indonesia? What's the point of that to bring up? You'd only bring up these things in some propaganda that's aimed to play on many people's fears of the 'unknown.' So what if he was lazy in college?
Some other stuff you brought up is legitimate, though: the lobbyist ties is one fact. Well, there's plenty of reasons not to vote for Obama, I'll grant you that.

Re: I'm a Little Confused
Great Spin Job. Where is your Obama headquarters located? Amazing how you discredit the accomplishments of a female. I guess if the show was on the other foot, you would be knocking her as well.

Awww, what a cute little troll. Yes kids, you can pet it, but remember not to feed it. You're tired of it already? OK, let's move on to the monkey cage.

Reps never had a problem trashing Hillary...
...but if you can't even address any of the ideas in the video, you don't have much to say, do you?
NOW who's show is on the other foot! (Huh?)

Re: I'm a Little Confused
The whole point of this video is that there are tons of unfair criticisms against Obama. Even the criticisms about irrelevant crap seem to be inaccurate.
Re: I'm a Little Confused
Go visit Michelle Malkin's blog if you want politics and news that appeals to you.
Or, perhaps you can allow yourself to gain insight by opening up your mind to new thoughts.
This wasn't anti-female in the slightest. There are dozens of ultra-conservatives who question Palin's qualifications for being a stand-in president, should McCain kick the bucket. IMHO, they're right. She could be a man and I'd question her experience and credentials.

You should read more.
You'd be amazed at how much you'll learn, not only about the (real) world around you and things called "facts", but also about the actual meaning behind such phrases as "shoe on the other foot" and "ignorant troglodyte."

Pray tell the easiest way for one to criticize nominees while being misogynist and racist?
Good thing I'm not prejudice against old people.
