Not Working?
Chris Rock sits down with Larry King and boils the election down to it's most simple elements.
Republican presidential candidate John McCain is just holding on like a boxer before he gets knocked out, comedian Chris Rock says.
Rock, an avid supporter of Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama, spoke with CNN's Larry King on Thursday. He said Obama is more grounded with your average American -- not somebody like McCain with "12 houses."
"The other guy [McCain] can lose five houses," Rock said.

Good mirror, BBS? Granted, it's only part of the interview; but I couldn't find a complete version on the Web.

Re: Chris Rock: Vote for the Guy with One House

Dear Celebrities: shut the fuck up.
Okay, that's unfair. Let me rephrase. Dear people listening to celebrities for anything other than entertainment: PLEASE take it with a grain of salt, these people are not professional political evaluators. They're just people when it comes to politics.
His argument is that McCain is out of touch? Most Celebrities out of touch, too.
Yes, some are well informed, but I've seen far too many celebrity interviews where they talk politics.

Re: Chris Rock: Vote for the Guy with One House
Sorry man, but I totally disagree.
Mark Twain? Will Rogers? Both "celebrities" who voiced their highly intelligent opinions on the social and political events of the day.
You'd have to explain why we should give some network mouthpiece more credence just because he or she has the title of "professional political pundit."
Because if these political hacks were any sharper or more talented, they'd be up at Chris Rock's level instead of toiling away mornings on "Fox & Friends."
The reason our media tells us not to listen to "celebrities" is because famous folks have access to the populous without any network oversight controlling their message.
Now all that said, I totally agree with you about taking celebrities' opinions with a grain of salt. Definitely. That's a given, yeah? We should do this for Chris Rock just as we do it for O'Reilly and Olbermann.
But it's unamerican to tell anyone to shut the fuck up and not exercise their right to free speech. And if we don't like what we hear, we can always turn the channel...

Re: Chris Rock: Vote for the Guy with One House
I think the grains of salt you need to take with O'Reilly should be chased with tequila.
I know the first paragraph was strongly worded. I did so for effect, as was evident in my second paragraph.
You make a good point that celebrities have no oversight, but they still do have PR to control. See: Mel Gibson.

They absolutely have the right to speak out just as we all do, but Faffy's main point is right - we shouldn't be such rapt listeners.
