Re: Milton Friedman: Living Within Our Means
So NOW he wants us to live within our means? Whatever happened to the all mighty invisible hand?

NO, liberals support the New Deal, the Reagan conservatives opposed it. It is not just "staying on the same path" that makes someone conservative or liberal. It is the ideology. Where does he get by saying that?

Re: Milton Friedman: Living Within Our Means
He labels anything for the good of the common worker as do gooder’s and special interest. The do gooder’s what to help the poor and less fortunate and the unions are his special interest. He makes no reference to corporate and banking special interest and greed. He uses the 19th century in the USA as an example of when things worked. The reality for the people is the industrial revolution started in the 19th century and families worked, including children, long hours seven days a week for a poverty wage like in the textile mills of New England. If it weren’t for the unions we would still be there. The 19th century also still had slavery and after it was abolished we had Jim Crow.

If he was intelligent he would recognized that the highest standard of living for the greatest number of citizens in a country was/is in direct proportion to the union membership of that country. Friedman economics have been instituted beginning with Reagan for nearly 30 years now and look where it has gotten us.
