I think the best thing that could happen to the US would be a reform of its electoral system so that proportional representation comes into play. That way the dems and the republicans can each have their side, while 3rd party candidates will hold the balance of power. IE Nader or Ron Paul.

This is particularly amusing, since it comes out to $980,000 per workday for Palin, vs. $893,000 for Sen. Obama. That's $1.31 per Alaskain per Governor-day for Palin, vs. $0.07 per Illinoisan per Senator-day for Obama.
