Re: Sarah Palin Speaks with Charlie Gibson
Wait. She's still around?

After all Palin's cowardly hiding from the media and reading speeches other people wrote for her and whining and being a serial liar, I thought she'd be kicked off the ticket by now...

Yawn. She's old news...

"reading speeches other people wrote for her". I'm not a fan of hers but I'm pretty sure speechwriters are common. You don't seriuosly think politicians write their own speeches the majority of the time do you?

You're right, except in one instance. Barack Obama actually does write his own speeches.

Re: Sarah Palin Speaks with Charlie Gibson
Typically though, as in the case with Obama and Biden, they have writers that have worked with them for a while, know the speaker's position and personality and make the speech very personal to that speaker. In Palin's case, the speech writers are the same as Bush's team, and didn't know to expect Palin as the VP nominee. In their case they wrote that RNC speech several weeks before she was picked, and they expected Lieberman to deliver it. They had to scramble to re-write it for Palin. The fact that 90% of her stump speeches have been more or less identical to that RNC speech she gave basically means that someone unfamiliar with Palin is putting words in her mouth.

This is MUCH different than the situation going for Obama and Biden (who don't always write their own speeches, but often have a much greater hand in the process than Palin clearly has had).

Re: Sarah Palin Speaks with Charlie Gibson
Yeah, but I mean: what genius in the McCain's campaign thought she could hold her own in an interview setting? She goes on the defensive after the third question.

Re: Sarah Palin Speaks with Charlie Gibson
Many of Gibson's questions were crap. Naturally, Palin showed up. She knew.

Well, here's to hoping that she visits Colbert, Stewart, Olbermann, Maddow, Maher, or anyone else with brains.

Re: Sarah Palin Speaks with Charlie Gibson
But ... even in this lousy interview, Palin failed miserably. Notice the edits. And oh that condescending and HIGHLY irritating voice of that woman.

Also, is it me or did even Gibson get fed up with her after a while? Damn, if only he had aired this unedited and tightened those questions. Palin would have burst into tears. She didn't even know what the Bush Doctrine was.

Karl Rove? Karl Rove? Your puppy needs a spanking.

Re: Sarah Palin Speaks with Charlie Gibson
If you read the transcript of her speeches, which are taken directly from the teleprompter, the word is spelled "new-clear". You can't make this stuff up.

I have never felt so strongly that I need to get out of the United States. If my wife would agree I'd get the "F" outa here.

Her foregin policty experience extends to her supervision over a national guard that's 3 miles seperated from the former Soviet Union?

Pass.

And it's so good that she didn't even know the policy that has dictated the last 6 years of US foreign policy (Bush Doctrine - that's a capital "D" on Doctrine).

Sure, she's ready on day one. /sarcasm

Re: Sarah Palin Speaks with Charlie Gibson
Here's a perfect example of the difference between the 'left wing media' and the shit Fox does. Notice how Charlie politely and calmly asks questions to Sarah...and yes they are pointed and sometimes difficult questions. But compare that to O'Reilly's interview of Obama and how he didn't really ask questions as much as accuse him of things and wait for a response. And the constant interruptions! The right wing gets so upset when the 'liberal media' asks tough questions yet how often do you see real reporters treating a Republican the way O'Reilly treated Obama (or any guest with an oppoising point of view for that matter). It's not the media that's 'liberal' it's the conservatives you who have no tolerance for anything other than their own ideals.

Not voting for her, but how much foreign policy experience did Bill have when he ran? Oh that's right. About the same. And he was running for President. There are other reasons to not vote for her, but foreign policy? Please. Obama is lacking there too. It is pretty typical for American politicians to not understand the rest of the world to welll.

Re: Sarah Palin Speaks with Charlie Gibson
Bill Clinton was the Governor of Arkansas (population: > 2 million) for over 10 years, and was the Chair of the National Governors Association.

Sarah Palin has been the Governor of Alaska (population: 683 thousand) for less than 2 years. Before that, mayor of a tiny ass town in the middle of bumf**k nowhere.

Obama has been s US Senator for 11 years. He's Chairman of the Senate's subcommittee on European Affairs, and is a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee which has brought him to Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Central Asia and Africa as a U.S. Senator.

Obama is lacking foreign policy experience? My ASS.

Sarah Palin has been in charge of the Alaska National Guard (for which she has issued no orders, none, zero), and thinks the fact that she can "see Russia" from certain parts of Alaska means she has foreign affairs experience. That's it. That's her resume on non-domestic issues.

I'm not a fan of Bill Clinton, but any comparison between Palin and Clinton's experience is laughable.

Any comparison between Palin and Obama's experience is absurd.

Re: Sarah Palin Speaks with Charlie Gibson
Gibson asks a direct foreign policy experience question: "commanding the Alaska National Guard and Alaska being close to Russia...are those sufficient credentials"?

Sarah: "But it is about reform..."

Nice dodge there, Sarah.

Palin on Russian-Georgian conflict: we have to be ready to go to war with Russia.

What? Are you ****ing nuts?!?

She doesn't know what the Bush Doctrine is. I'm a graphic designer and I know what it is. She's a nominee for Vice President of the United States and she doesn't know?

Considering this woman for VP for even a moment is *insane*.

And I thought we couldn't do worse than Bush and Cheney. A McCain-Palin administration is a terrifying idea.
