This is a satirical translation of a freestyle rap battle.

Re: Freestyle Rap Battle: Translated
I wish I could just watch that and laugh... because it is hysterical and well done. However with my hypersensitivity I can't help but notice the smarmy (yet clever) narrator appears to an educated suburbanite and, alas, the unwitting participants are not. Neo-nazis love this stuff. I welcome any group of people making fun of any other group of people but realize it often comes off looking kind of shitty to some folks. And umm... what's with the graphic to the left?

Re: Freestyle Rap Battle: Translated
Yeah, I wanted to know what was up with the monkey as well. The Black lady in me bristles, and it's a knee jerk thing . . . does it have to do with the "gangsta life" tag?
Re: Freestyle Rap Battle: Translated
It's a commentary that many but not most white people view african americans as being of closer relations to monkeys or chimps than they themselves are, based entirely on their physical characteristics. Additionally, the chimp in question brandishes a semi-automatic pistol commonly associated with thuggish activity portrayed frequently in the news and media as being encountered in low-income african american communities.
Although these elements point to the unfortunate implication that the contributor may be a racist who believes african americans are monkeys with guns, the most likely explanation is that this was simply the most appropriate image from those available for selection.
However, said contributor displays a lack of social sensitivity and a certain amount of naivety in his misinformed choice. In all likelihood, moderators will soon change the image as both a silent apology and to avoid further discussion.

Re: Freestyle Rap Battle: Translated
I"ve seen this sort of gag a few times before, but I enjoyed this one and not the others. To me the video wasn't poking fun at a race, but a genre of music. They're just highlighting the cliche's in a humorous manner, and just because the participants involved are black shouldn't make them immune from parody.
You could easily do this with a country song and white people... though I dont know how many of those end the same way this one did ; )

Yeah, but which makes YOU laugh harder?
No one said they should be immune from parody... I made a special effort in the first comment to show I do not believe anyone is immune from parody.
I am from the Appalachian Mountains and could potentially bristle at derogatory barbs about hillbillies. This, however, has a shittiness about it that chewbot's comment exemplifies.
Leave it up, please. Enjoy please. But Dave Chappelle said it best when he sadly decided to end his show because he looked over "and saw the cameraman laughing a little too hard." Dave was left wondering "what aspect of the sketch was this guy laughing about?"
So for those of you watching and laughing at this clip LIKE I WAS/AM... if you have the time, maybe consider what it is that's making you laugh.
...And that graphic really bums me out.

Re: Yeah, but which makes YOU laugh harder?
To be honest, I didn’t notice anything inappropriate about that “graphic”...or anything remotely connected to anything racial...it’s only gangster parody photo. Pay attention to the suit that “gangsta” has...it has no race reference but only gangster style (Godfather? Italians?)...
Maybe it’s just me that does not see any racial association to that monkey...or maybe it’s you actually making your individual subliminal connection...which worries me about your perception of certain race. Now that you made connection, it is becoming an issue even though no one had any intention making one. Do we have any “benefit” from your comment besides the fact you just spoiled fun for all of us (regardless of our race)?
Some forms of political correctness are more harmful than pure carelessness.
Now I will request we resolve this with few RPG launchers or few anti aircraft cannons ?

Re: Yeah, but which makes YOU laugh harder?
Well put. No reason to be so sensitive, and excessive political correctness is just plain lame.
As for the icon image, my guess is that it might be a Pulp Fiction influence. The suite and chrome .45 automatic are the link. (Not that it's relevant, though)

I saw the word 'Rap' in the title and immediately disregarded this, at first. Wow... great video. Quite amusing. Captures the dumbass thug-life persona perfectly.
Why are so many people getting all bent out of shape of this? It's funny. Leave it at that. Chillax Yo!
"Neo-nazis love this stuff"
Probably, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be enjoyed.
Besides, the humor is much too highbrow. Most of those racist cunts require a level of sophistication that is more like what you'd find in WWF.

Sorry for the typo. I've had a particularly bad week for sleeping and it's making me quite lucid and sketchy (more than usual).

Re: Freestyle Rap Battle: Translated
Is someone bent out of shape? Or did someone make a comment followed by a still unanswered question? I wish all racists were dum dums but unfortunately that is not the case. I don't believe the guys who made this were racist... Seeing it simply made me feel a certain way.
Again, watch and enjoy. I'm done. And if anyone is wondering, I'll laugh at pretty much anything... I just think about it a little afterward.

If you're not, you're not.
Guess I just felt like saying what I said because I'm one of those folks who doesn't like guilt being anywhere near my comedy.
It's like how most Catholics secretly feel about sex and guilt; only the opposite (it's a turn on).

Re: Freestyle Rap Battle: Translated
I just showed this video to my thug life homeboy and he lol'd.
Then we watched the original video on Youtube. Then we watched the video where the second rapper (the aggressor) explains why he physically attacked the opponent.
In spite of negative perceptions, these guys have a command on improvisational vocabulary that most people can't fathom. While anyone who truly knows freestyle will tell you that not EVERY word is off-the-cuff, you cannot succeed with premade quips and you'll be easily exposed.
These guys research their opponents; for material and to make sure that their opponent isn't rehashing old lines. I've seen several examples of a rapper being called out on recycling rhymes - so far as to even cite the date and location. The best battle rappers are students of the art.

Re: Freestyle Rap Battle: Translated
If im not wrong, that monkey is from a satire program in the 90's (hence why the monkey is used as a satire pic) from the Pulp Fiction parody. That being the case I also believe that is the monkey representing Jules (Jonh Travolta's part).
As a side note, it is just as racist to assume a picture is racist. Why is it every picture of a black man eating watermelon is consitered racist, did you ever think that he might just like watermelon. Is every monkey dressed in a three piece suit (mind you not gangsta') and holding a gun a parody of Black gangstas'
"It is not our differences that divide us. It is our inability to recognize, accept, and celebrate those differences."

Re: Freestyle Rap Battle: Translated
I selected this image mostly out of my inability to find something better. I searched for terms like Thug and Gangster using Google Image Search and didn't find any suitable images.
I thought the chimp was kind of cute in a way that beguiled the expression on his face. And anthropomorphizing animals is usually adorable. I thought the suit was like a Mafia suit and the gun just seemed to go with the who gangster theme.
But I see how this could all be taken in a different way that I intended. I don't associate primates with any race, they are genetically similar to all humans. But there is definitely a cultural connection that I was insensitive to and for that I whole heatedly apologize.
Truth is, I don't even like the term Gangsta Life, I just don't know how else to tag the phenomenon. I was going for the whole Gangster Rap, Thug Life idea as a pop culture phenomenon in the vein of musicians from NWA and Vanilla Ice to Ol' Dirty Bastard and Eminem; from movies like New Jack City and Colors; tv shows like The Wire; video games like GTA; and especially the way that the media tries to monopolize on subcultures and, in pathetic and hilarious ways, tries to make them palatable to Suburbia.
I changed the image -- which was connected to the tag "Gangsta Life" and not specifically this link -- but I welcome all to submit an image to the web and link it here for the tag. I will run the images by the Moderators to make the best selection.
I need to fit it into 5 height x 3 width portrait ratio, so just make sure it could be resized and/or cropped in away that it works for this format. No need to do any photo manipulation, I will take care of that.
Same with the name, Gangsta Life. If you have a better tag, please suggest one.
As for the video itself, it's certainly nothing new. Steve Allen did a regular bit reading rock lyrics as poetry. James Lipton did it on the the Conan O'Brian show recently. And there are a ton of bands who sing Rap, even "Hard Core" rap, in a way it was never intended, all in the name of fun. I think the humor comes from the dichotomy exposed when one style is applied to another style of art. At least, that's what's funny to me. I was walking with my wife the other day beatboxing (terribly) while singing Bella Lugosi's Dead by the Godfater's of Goth, Bauhaus. It was hilarious because it made no sense, but somehow seemed to work anyway. ;)
I want to thank everyone here and on the site, who took the time to share their options. Feedback is always welcome.
Note: The image in question is, I believe, a Chimpanzee, which are known to be violent. Apes, which are gentle, would never brandish a weapon.

That isn't what you told me during the Klan rally last week. Don't you remember? We were next to the...'bonfire'.... and you were tapping the 4th keg. No recollection? Hmmm. Guess you were too wasted, huh?

Oh well... I hope you will not remove videos that some religious groups or political party supporters find “offending”...because then M&C will be reduced to few Pink Floyd videos, endless cute animal clips...and few skateboarders (until some overprotective parents start complaining how their son got hurt in skateboarding accident)...

Re: Freestyle Rap Battle: Translated
you are missing my point. My point is there are dozens of negative videos about McCain and palin and none about Obama or biden. You guys whine about fox news and their bias and yet don't concede that m&c is very biased. Check the replies and you will be hard pressed to find any positive comments about McCain or negative about Obama. Seems like m&c is preaching to the choir.
If you want more lively and balanced discussions why not try posting some political videos that go against your democratic agenda.

Why is it that you don't post such clips?
I'm sorry, but if you have a point to be made, make it. Stop challenging others to do it for you.
Your efforts will be judged by others. Read the title here. Community moderated links.
Being just a right-wing commentator is unlikely to win you any friends. We've had several GOP allies here who have been great contributors in the past. See Podwall or perhaps Cyberfox. But no, you just see this joint as a forum to spew idiocy.
Time to grow up and face the music, pal.

exactly what idiocy am I spewing? And what do you mean if I have a point, then make it? I did. Did you actually want to respond or simply call me names like a fourth grader?

Time to grow up, buddy.
You are acting like the child who killed his parents here and begging mercy from the courts because you are an orphan.
You have made your point albeit far from completely.
And if you want McCain friendly clips, post them! What is stopping you?
Moron.

I have to say you're all a bunch of oversensitive pansies. Its funny, deal with it. Don't get in to this stupid guilt thing. People are funny. White people are funny, Black people are funny, Asians are funny. We're all funny. Until we can laugh at ourselves in good natured humor, without seeing ghostly kkk puppeteers behind every joke, we'll never get rid of racism.

Re: Freestyle Rap Battle: Translated
Also black-wolf's crossed-out comment is correct (whoah, alliteration). Practically everyone on this board subscribes to left-leaning views, which tells me that the odds of allowing a right-leaning video up are pretty slim. Maybe I'm wrong though, of course I haven't tried to post anything.
By: faxis2k
Re: Freestyle Rap Battle: Translated
It's easy enough to test your theory, faxis2k. Just click on the Submit link on the right side of your screen. Then paste in a URL from YouTube (or Vimeo or College Humor or Daazo or somewhere else that allows embedding - not blogs, and definitely not your own blog), check the Title and Description for typos, and, voila! You've submitted a link for review by other viewers of the site.
If you could, though, please search for your video here before posting, as we'd like to keep the number of duplicates links to a minimum.
You'll start with one link per day, which will grow over time with the number of points you accumulate. The highest rated links are usually high quality (video, sound), entertaining, and thought-provoking with no commercials (viral videos had best be damn funny).
If you have any other questions, you can ask them here or message me.

Actually Black-wolf mistakenly posted comments in totally unrelated root. This is the one of the probable roots that he wanted to comment about that was active that time:
