Re: Bill Maher: New Rules (September 5, 2008)
Once Palin put her family on stage, on camera, in front of the news, in the press, etc to help her election - then she made her family a fair topic for discussion.

She can be cool and keep them out of the news. Or she can continue putting her brood and their hypocritical "Evangelical" lifestyles on camera and up for discussion.

She can tell others to "do as she says, not as she does." But she can't have it both ways.

No matter how much she pathetically whines about it.

Hmm...I wonder if she whines enough to the Middle East if they would do what she says...

On the same topic, I just read in a letter to the editor someone from Alaska wrote, that Track, the son Palin was so proud of because he made the decision to join the National Guard and is soon on his way to Iraq, actually joined the National Guard to stay out of jail. It seems that, while still in high school, he and some friends stole booze, got smashed and vandalized his school's bus fleet. For that he spent his senior year in Michigan, and when he came back to Alaska got into drugs - getting in trouble with the law for that is what sent him into the National Guard. I guess he preferred that uniform to an orange jump suit.

Excellent. I'm sure they'll give the brat a most dangerous job in the Green Zone.

#1: Keeping field mice out of Saddam's palaces.

#2: Making sure pedestrians won't get hit by falling dates (you know, nobody there to pick them, so the date palms are all heavily burdened).

#3: Occasional life-threatening trips to the Red Zone to infuse the Iraqi economy with American dollars -- them veiled ladies there are all oiled up for nothing otherwise (the only surviving Iraqi men/boys are age 12 and younger, and can't get it up yet -- I mean, certainly not good enough to please them jaded ladies over at the Red Zone).

#4: Start a moose farm on the banks of the (*goes to Google Maps*) Tigris (that's what I thought; I just had to make sure).

#5: Cheney will think of something else, like dusting off Saddam's Bugs Bunny outfit (carcinogenic dust particles).

(If you yourself want to go to Baghdad, try Madame Fatima at the Al Doha, numero 44. Tell her W_W sent you, and you’ll enjoy reduced rates. Except for Saleena, you may pick and choose to your heart’s -- and wallet’s -- content.)

"I'm putting America first... because a McCain / Moose-burger victory will make my job very very easy"

Ya, it would be a major detriment to the late night political comedy crowd (Colbert, Steward, Maher etc) if Obama got the job. I highly doubt that his reign can fuck up as badly as the Christian-right Neocons have: they've given a centuries worth of joke fodder.

Plus, Obama isn't dumb -- he speaks too well. He'll never say hilariously asinine things, like, "I couldn't imagine somebody like Obama bin Laden understanding the joy of Hanukkah."

We may be looking at the last days of great political satire, folks.

I find this prospect to be both saddening and uplifting. Bush and co were just so wonderfully disastrous and arrogant and evil and ironic. We may never see such terrible leadership in America again.

Shit, even McCunt has his work cut out for him if he wants to come close to Bush's legacy of crap.

Mind the typo in the Bush quote (lol). Obama = Osama

Man, Obama sure has the worst possible name to appeal to redneck America. It's just one letter difference.

The truth is out. EM is actually a neocon spy sent to infiltrate the internets and spread propaganda. I effing knew it.

LMAO

Though I have no political party affiliation, nothing could be further from the truth. The retarded Neocon ideology absolutely disgusts me.

In Canada, we have three major parties: Conservatives, Liberals and New Democratic Party (NDP). None of them offer a platform I can believe in.

This fall we are having a federal election - and I'm trying to decide whether the NDP or Liberals will get my vote because I despise PM Stephen Harper (conservative). The guy is a dickhead (not the cool kind).

I'd say I'm socially progressive; fiscally conservative. So, in other words, there ain't shit out there for me.

I know better than to fall for your neocon lies!

I am envious of this "three-party system" you speak of.

Re: Bill Maher: New Rules, Sept 5, 2008
Canada has more than those three.

But, I wouldn't be envious of our system. Only the Liberals and Conservatives ever get elected - and they both suck ass.

The other parties just seem to muddle the vote. That's how we allowed Harper to get a minority government.

Politics pisses me off.

Re: Bill Maher: New Rules, Sept 5, 2008
At least there are minority governments though.

So even if the Conservatives or Liberals win the other major parties can still have a lot of influence.

You forgot the Bloc Quebecois too. They usually get about 50 seats which is a big chunk.

We would be a lot worse off if the Cons won a majority government.

Re: Bill Maher: New Rules, Sept 5, 2008
You are quite right, sir.

Ya, the Bloc... ugh. I hate those separatist clowns.

It vexes me that Ontario and Quebec get to decide who leads us. The west doesn't have nearly enough influence.

As for Harper, my guess is that he will have a majority by the end of the year. That scares the shit out of me. He is far too cunning and dominant a politician to be given any more power than he already has. Up until now, he has been controlled somewhat by the other parties ganging up on him. With more power... that creep will be able to do some damage. But, who the fuck can take his place? None of the other parties have a strong enough leader (I do kind of like Jack Layton of the NDP)

Eh... its not that I find Bill Maher un-funny, but sometimes I think people like him only cause more polarization. He's singing to the choir and making his opponents only want to fight back harder, rather than trying to show them a different point of view.

"...rather than trying to show them a different point of view."

Oh, don't be such a fucking hippie. People like conflict, and so what if Bill Maher's audience agrees with him. We watch him because he has a knack for making funny out of the issues. He summarizes with a beautifully clever wit. He makes all the insane shit right-wing christian America does, more palatable; less scary.

Besides, it's a tedious waste of time trying to reason with some imbecile who thinks Bush provided good leadership... or that women do not have the right to choose because their pastor claims Jesus said so. Those people are mentally incompetent and it's not anyone's responsibility to show them the light. Fuck 'em.

Whiny bleeding heart pussy: "Can't we all just get along?"
