Japanese Spear Fighting: Sojutsu
Here's a collection of a few demonstrations of Sojutsu - Japanese spear fighting.

The spear not the sword was the main weapon of choice in the wars of the 15th and 16th century in medieval Japan.

Spears were used by both samurai and lower class foot soldiers known as ashigaru.

The following scenes were shot at the Uesugi Matsuri in Yonezawa in Yamagata Prefecture and the Shingonko Matsuri in Kofu in Yamanashi Prefecture.
