What happened to video games that identify enemies not with a background story, but based solely upon their appearance and which side of the screen they are on? Parallels with America's current conflict in the middle east?

I would imagine that original cartridges of this baby run for a hefty price on eBay, after having achieved post-modern classic status, a Holy Grail for vintage gamers, like a first-run printing of The Beatles' "Revolver" or something along those lines, not really meant to be used, but to be put on display.
