Re: The Lockers: Malt Liquor Commercial
As well as racist and blacksploitative. I wonder what the reaction would be today if this were shown on TV.

Re: The Lockers: Malt Liquor Commercial
How is this racist? African Americans performing a song-dance act in promoting an adult beverage? Now, if the voiceover came on and said that this was all these actors were good for, that would be racist.

Forgive me for pointing out what is a common misconception. I am not picking on you, rather just stating what I see to be as the facts. As one who comes from a minority heritage myself, I see a need to differentiate.

Re: The Lockers: Malt Liquor Commercial
I share your perspective -- this is not racism. No more racist than any commercial that that targets it's primary customer demographic, anyway. Should we call KFC racist because they have more black people in their commercials? No. Should we call any country music star a racist because of all white people in their lame ass videos? Shit no.

Re: The Lockers: Malt Liquor Commercial
I'd just like to point out that it's a bit misleading to refer to locking as "early breakdancing". Locking and breakdancing developed separately (locking on the west coast and breakdancing on the east) before they later influenced each other.
