As this talk progressed, I was thinking the point he was making was that the problems we're facing are no big deal. But as it went along, it became clear he was saying we shouldn't let sensationalism distort our perspectives, and we shouldn't let fear cripple our ability to take action.
The second half of the talk was very interesting, when he was getting into complexity theory, and how we must learn to embrace uncertainty, even as we try to learn to manage complexity.
