Until personell-level IFF technology is improved upon, I would not want the military using these things...
However, on a paintball field it would be pretty awsome to establish a perimeter.
This is a really neat device... Give it a big enough hopper and a big air tank and you're in great shape if you're on guard duty in a fort or some such.
