Re: Epic Half Life Rube Goldberg
Sorry for being a pessimist, but I don't find large beams and concrete blocks floating in midair to be a good demonstration of a great physics engine.

Also I think making rube goldberg machines *virtually* kind of eliminates what makes them cool in the first place. In reality, someone has to set those things up very carefully, be mindful not to bump anything, and if it doesn't work, they have to do it all over again. In a 3D application its pretty simple to take a 10 foot object, and tell it to displace it X many times, 9.5 feet apart, or what ever. And if the whole thing doesn't work, you're not burdened with re-staging the whole scene, just hit reset.

I'd call you a realist, but that's just what I'd rather be called.

Re: Epic Half Life Rube Goldberg
I hate to argue, but originally Rube Goldberg Machines were cartoons. If they hadn't been cool in THAT first place, then no one would have bothered to make real ones. If Rube Goldberg had had 3D rendering software backe when he was making his cartoons he probably would have used it!

And anything with the Indian Jones theme music is OK by me! :-)

My only criticism is, why didn't the goal explode?
