Atheist Experience: Best Caller Ever
The logical fallacy of inconstancy in action!

Definition: Applying criteria or rules to one belief, claim, argument, or position but not to others. For example, some consumer advocates argue that we need stronger regulation of prescription drugs to ensure their safety and effectiveness, but at the same time argue that medicinal herbs should be sold with no regulation for either safety or effectiveness.

Sorry for being a spoil sport. I was on the cusp between a 4 and a 5.

Perhaps it's just too obvious to me.

even though I gave 4 stars, I honestly thing atheist channel is absolutely unnecessary...they should join discovery channel or some other stuff and make some useful footage...what the hell am I going to say on atheist channel? “There's no god”...ok...let's go home!

I don't get it...atheist channel...it is like having bottled water in the middle of pristine clean lake full of drinkable water...

Re: Atheist Experience: Best Caller Ever.
It's just a forum to espouse their (our, since I am in agreement with them that there is no God) views.

I don't get particularly excitable about the topic. And I'm far from militant. Except for two items: Creationism (intelligent design, my ass) taught as science in schools with my tax dollars, and tax-exempt status of churches and religious organizations.

Just because I have a difference of opinion regarding a supreme being with someone doesn't make a hill of beans worth of difference if they can tell me why I need to fund their mistaken beliefs. I haven't gotten an answer to that from a single religious person (many Christians, Muslims and Jews have tried in utter failure).

Re: Atheist Experience: Best Caller Ever.
Initially, I thought it is funny to organize atheists. It sounds like: “forum of citizens with arms and legs”, or “Americans without special needs”...

But you have a point. Organizing atheist groups can have political impact, as every other interest group has strong links to presidential candidates.

I was born in Yugoslavia which was at that time transitioning from strong communist state into more moderate socialistic system. However, religion was strictly prohibited from education and politics. My rights were guaranteed, and no one had any right to impose their religious views to others. I can’t even imagine some politicians proposing (for instance) banning abortion based on their religious views. That pathetic group would be kicked out of parliament without any discussion.

Then, in early 90’s we started first elections in Bosnia, and some idiot decided to remove part of electoral law that prohibits political parties with ethnic / religious focus. Ethnic and religious groups went wild. Serbs (Orthodox Christians), Muslims (Muslims), and Croats (Catholics) started voting for their own parties. Election was a farce...they didn’t even have to count votes as they almost precisely reflected census data. Muslims had most of the votes as the largest religious group in Bosnia, then Serbs, and Croats respectively.

Serbs didn’t want to be dominated by Muslims, so they started organizing militant separation. Croats didn’t want to be dominated by either Muslims or Serbs, and did the same thing. Muslims started arming themselves to keep things together. It took one little spark to create full blown war within few months.

Who is keeping an eye on religious groups in democratic countries? They are majority, and they are trying to get what they want no matter how unconstitutional their demands are. We are lucky to get this far without any world wars since 40’s.

Re: Atheist Experience: Best Caller Ever.
The ACA was formed to give support to atheists. It is a venue to allow atheists to share ideas with each other.

I watch the show every week, I think it is fantastic. The show is not about evangelizing atheism, they have a faq on their website that explains the point of the show. They also explain it on the show, heck you could even call in if you wanted to and he would explain it to you.

"So my mother was in the hospital, and she was halfway dead or whatever."

Wow, sounds serious... I couldn't help but laugh at the way he throws out his mother's life threatening disease like he forgot the details of a drunken weekend party.
