I think you're really misunderstanding the intent of the reporters at the end. I don't believe that they are trying to put together a news story, or obtain a soundbite that they can manipulate, or anything along those lines. It seems to me that they are simply trying to show Barry how absurd his own techniques are, and how it feels to be on the receiving end.

Moyers and the reporters at the end are really apples and oranges. Moyers was putting forth a sincere challenge to Barry; the reporters were just mocking him for being pathetic. While that's not necessarily a noble thing to do, calling them "vultures" seems to be a little bit out of line. The dude totally deserves it.
