Great, passionate talk. The old knock on Al Gore that he's wooden in front of an audience is definitely not valid anymore.

Re: New Thinking on the Climate Crisis
HA! Of course, the only way to fix this problem is a GLOBAL CARBON TAX or as he put it "Putting a Price on Carbon" ... Can anyone tell me what we exhale as humans? If you said/thought the life-giving gas, Carbon Dioxide. You'd be right! If Al Gore had his way, we would be taxed to BREATH!

He gushes about being excited to be the generation that all future generations will write books and compose symphony's for, in our honor. He says it's our responsibility to do this, to solve this issue for ourselves and our children. And he says the way we do that is to MAKE US ALL PAY to do anything including, traveling, going to work, heating our house, cooking our food, mowing our lawns, BREATHING.

Yes, we have the chance to be the generation that ALL generations after us remember, but not for good reasons, but for the fact that we will have been the ignorant, idiotic, uninformed, lazy, uneducated, thought-less generation that bought into what this snake oil salesmen was selling by CONDEMNING them all to living in a rationed, and pre-portioned, taxed-to-death WORLD!

Taxes and Global regulations are NOT the answer. The answer is education!! The answer is donating your time and efforts to help support scientists and thinkers to create ANOTHER way to heat our homes, drive our cars, etc. We need to allow ingenuity and creativity to FLOURISH not to be stifled and crushed under regulations and laws!

"Be the change in the world that you want to see." - Ghandi ... this doesn't mean stand and applaud mindlessly for a Carbon Tax (ie. TAX ON LIFE)... it means to take the time and effort to be a better human being. Being a better human being is NOT condemning our kids and grandkids to pay for our stupidity.

Right now, we pay taxes on our jobs, but we can deduct the cost of health care, home loans, and charitable giving. I think we can figure out how not to tax our breath. I'd trade job taxes for resource depletion taxes any day.

If we taxed carbon emissions at anywhere near the damage they cause, we'd see a whole lot less novelty plastic dog doo, and a whole lot more clever ideas for gathering energy from non-carbon sources. Hell, we'd even see people finding ways to un-carbonify the atmosphere for a profit. But we have to do it while there's still a little fossil fuel capacity left to actually build the new technologies. It may already be too late, but we still have to do it.

And if our grandkids want to go back to the 19th and 20th century, let em do so in a democratic fashion. Or, we could just use up the last few morsels and tell them the party's over. Then they'll REALLY write songs about us on the road to Extinctionville.
