Terry Gilliam's Don Quixote: Johnny Depp
In 2000, the director Terry Gilliam started shooting "The Man Who Killed Don Quixote". This film, an altered telling of the classic Don Quixote story, starred Johnny Depp as Don Quixote's "sidekick".

After only one week of shooting, too many problems forced production on the film to stop. Even though this film has been his biggest dream, Gilliam, to this day, has never been able to sucessfully restart the project. This is the only six minutes of the film that were completed.

The story behind these 6 minutes is pretty interesting. The story of this unfinished film is told in the documentary "Lost in La Mancha".

Not sure what to completely make of it, but does strike some interest in me. I wonder if he will ever finish it?

Whoah, that was weird. I didn't know they watched TV shows back then... Still pretty intriguing. I wish Gilliam could have finished it.

Re: Terry Gilliam's Don Quixote: Johnny Depp
The premise was that Johnny Depps character was from present day and woke up in Don Quixote's time...hence the "tv" reference.

For me the most concerning is the extremely stilted dialogue... I guess its so wonky because what we're seeing is a "pre-edit". It just sounds very "made up" on the spot and not very natural.

If this peaks your interest enough, you should see the documentary, Lost in La Mancha.
