Excellent post!

But wouldn't that be more accurately described as, "an atheist of Jewish heritage"? I always strive to be careful in using religious terms with few mistakes.

But a Jew is still a Jew (ethnically speaking), even if he doesn't believe in the invisible man in the sky.

Is a Christian a Christian because they maintain the tradition of exchanging presents at Christmas yet outspokenly denounce the existence of God?

Why the dichotomy?

I'm not an expert, and it's rather hard to explain, but I believe that the Jewish people have an ethnic history. Many Jewish families can identify which of the two remaining tribes of Israel they belong two (Ashkenazi, from Eastern Europe, and Sephardi, from the Iberian Peninsula). Moreover, I just checked out "Ashkenazi" on wiki, and apparently there are certain genetic similarities between male Ashkenazis.

... But back to your original post: If you were to refer to someone like Cross as "an Atheist of Jewish descent," nobody would think twice; I think it's really just a technicality. I have friends of Jewish heritage who do not practice, and who consequently do not consider themselves Jewish in the slightest.

Technically, this isn't sketch comedy. It's stand-up. But if you've been drinking as much as I have when you come to sites like this to entertain yourself, I forgive you my man. Keep up the good work.

Either way, Cross is a funny SoB.
