Penn & Teller: Patriotic Flag Burning
It's amazing how you can get away with some stuff. Flag burning (which is a crime in some places) can be easily done in front of a captive audience if you do it while making a patriotic speech. Penn makes the speech while Teller helps him burn one.

Penn and Teller are the kind of celebrities that deserve any air time they're given.
They bring a certain quality into their brand of entertainment, the kind that makes you think, makes you smarter, and leaves you wanting more Penn and Teller, and more information about the world.

Re: Penn & Teller: Patriotic Flag Burning
Burning the flag is not always illegal anywhere in the US. In fact, it's part of the "code" (not sure what code, some sort of code relating to the conduct of handling the flag) that if a flag is desecrated in some way the proper way to dispose of it is to burn it.

"When a flag is so tattered that can no longer serve as a symbol of the United States, it should be destroyed in a dignified manner, preferably by burning."

Re: Penn & Teller: Patriotic Flag Burning
It is NOT a crime to burn the American flag. The act of burning the flag is protected under Free Speech by the US Supreme Court.

Re: Penn & Teller: Patriotic Flag Burning
Well, they can be insightful. But in their Showtime show they can also be blow-hards, which obfuscates their insight -- the boy who cried wolf and what what.

This is very true, but if taken with a grain of salt, they're always entertaining.
I'm too old, too jaded and seen far too much crap to take anything seriously any longer.

hmm....
"United States Flag Code lists many guidelines for the use and display of the flag, many of which are largely ignored[citation needed]. For example :
* "No part of the flag should ever be used as a costume or athletic uniform"
* The flag "should not be embroidered on such articles as cushions or handkerchiefs and the like, printed or otherwise impressed on paper"."
