Not Working?
Creation Science is fairly simple to understand. The conclusion is laid out for you -- just read Genesis -- so there's nothing to investigate. The question is whether this really is science. Even if it isn't, should it be taght in school as a way of "opening" young minds? This is the penultimate video in the Made Easy series, which looks at the evidence showing our origins, from the Big Bang to the human migration out of Africa.

Re: Creation 'Science' Made Easy
I do enjoy these vidieo, and personally agree that the "non religous fundalmentalist" point of view is correct, but I would also like to see the other side. I love milkandcookies because they seem to fit what I believe, but what is the other side preaching? Every religous tag video I have seen on here seem to be debunking religion (I know a few support it).
It's not that I agree with the religous point of view... I just want to see what kind of brain washing they are getting these days. Any chance we can get a hardcore religous video debunking the science making the headlines anytime soon? (I enjoy them for the laughs)

Well, actually... I submitted that one to expose Robertson and Comfort as providing laughable examples. The clip itself, while quite serious and uploaded to YT by CBN, has a very low rating.
Someone here said it and I love the quote... used it repeatedly: The Internet is the church of atheists.

Re: Creation 'Science' Made Easy
Creation Science is best explained as... well... did anyone those math teachers in high school that would occasionally give you problems that had no solution on a test?
Creation Science is looking at the problem, thinking that you will never be able to solve it, and just writing "no solution." In reality, you're just at a high school level, and there likely is a way to solve every equation, but you just don't know it yet.

Some egos are too great to admit they can not fathom life's great mysteries. Take me for example. I still havent figured out this damn phone of mine. I blame the Norse god Loki and his myschevious ways. He influenced the makers of this phone to put confounding buttons everywhere that dont do what I need them to do! Damn you loki! Damn you!

Re: Creation 'Science' Made Easy
Most of the same people that will explain to you "scientifically" why creationism is a sound theory will often suggest other "scientific theories" that "prove" Christian Science is real science. It's all a self-conscious circle jerk, because the reality is that these people don't really seek reconciliation of science and Biblical Christianity. They don't need it. For them light bulbs could as easily be powered by the Holy Spirit as electricity (this was once suggested to me). The way I see it, for them science=knowledge and knowledge=sin, the whole see no evil, etc. thing. Logic is a novelty.
Re: Creation 'Science' Made Easy
Adam and Eve were cast out of the garden for eating fruit from the tree of knowledge.
Re: Creation 'Science' Made Easy
Wrong. They were cast out of the Garden of Eden for disobeying God. There is a profound difference.

Re: Creation 'Science' Made Easy
They were punished, not for eating that fruit, but for doing what God told them not to do (i.e. eating that fruit). I guess you got me, Chuck.
Dipping into the private stash of an omnipotent being is probably not such a good idea. But what a dick! He kept it right there in front of them, and they held out for quite a while. I'm not an omniscient being, but I could've seen that one coming.

Re: Creation 'Science' Made Easy
What I mean by that is, they were cast out for eating fruit from the tree of knowledge. But first they were emotionally abused. And then they were gratuitously punished afterward too. And all their decedents were cursed until the end of time.
Turning his favorite brown-nosing angel into Satan was another stunning achievement. What an evil deity. (Yahweh, I mean.) For a guy with infinite power, he sure is insecure.
Smite me.

Re: Creation 'Science' Made Easy
There is a difference. It is absolutely NOT profound. The writer's point remains that we are asked to believe that to eat the fruit of knowledge was against God. What a horrible, horrible god that would be. I would even venture to call that God evil. But hey that's just me, and of course I'm hellbound, and terrified of the eternal punishment I'm sure to endure due to my lack of faith. Really, it's going to be just terrible. I'm terribly upset about it. Seriously

Re: Creation 'Science' Made Easy
Ironically, Adam and Eve had no concept of right and wrong prior to eating the fruit. So they had no idea it was wrong to disobey God.

Re: Creation 'Science' Made Easy
This is by far one of the best videos I've seen that advocate science over unscientific thought masquerading as science. A lot of these other videos that are in support of evolution simply don't hit the major points as to why evolution is credible and creationism is not and often don't go too far beyond saying that creationists are stupid. I'm really, really glad to have seen this vdieo.

Re: Creation 'Science' Made Easy
Didn't some of these Christian fundamentalist people ban their children from reading Harry Potter because it was full of wizards and magic etc. ?
By their logic it seems to me that God is "magic" so how could Harry Potter be any different ?

Re: Creation 'Science' Made Easy
There is magic in the Bible. It doesn't come from the Almighty--when it does, it's a miracle. For example, Pharaoh's magicians square off with Aaron and Moses in Exodus, they all turn staffs into snakes, but Aaron's eats the others up.
Don't know if this link is stable:
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?version=76&search=ex+7-8,matt+15:1-20
Harry Potter is usually challenged because it is a reliance on "black magic," turning away from God, allowing children to be self-reliant, and turning away from authority figures.
At least, that's what I hear as a librarian. Really, I am.
Here's an attack of Harry Potter that sounds pretty typical--except it's a bit more in depth. Usually, it's attackers haven't read it at all. They say something to the effect of, "I don't have to read porn to know it's obscene, either."

Thanks for the additional resources for the discussion.
Yes, perception is often a matter of the direction from where you come, not necessarily the object under examination.
