Galaxy Quest: Monsters!
Directed by Dean Parisot, Galaxy Quest (1999) is regarded by many as a superb film, and not just by Trekkies. It is, however, still underrated, which is a shame. No doubt it will one day be widely recognized for what it is: a film of pure comedy and fine acting. Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Alan Rickman, Tony Shalhoub, Sam Rockwell, and others form the strong cast.

When I first saw the trailer for this in a theatre, I figured it would be on cable in six months. A real stinker, I had figured. As it turns out, a couple of years later I did see the film on cable and it was really a cute flick. More funny than sci-fi and poking good fun at all the Star Trek conventions and hysteria.
