Re: Tetra Vaal Demo Spot
Reminds me of the robot guy from the anime Appleseed.

Re: Robot Cops
There's always someone waiting to gay your link whether they like it or not. I'm getting the feeling there's some people on this site who just like to give things 1s and 2s just to screw with the system. Hell, some of the greatest links on this site have a few really low votes. Luckily the good votes outweigh the bad ones.

Re: Robot Cops
Speaking as a CG student, this has to be some of the nicest work I've ever seen. It's so hard to believe that it is CG and not a guy in a suit!

Creepy, creepy, creepy
With this robot, the Blue Screen of Death takes on a whole new meaning.

Am I the only one who found this disturbing?

Okay, this clip had some great production values. The CGI looked real, and the voiceovers sounded like authentic interviews (speculative bits like this usually invest a lot in effects and skimp on the writing and voice talent). However, I found this video really scary. The shiny white robot looked like it was occupying the shanty town, rather than protecting its inhabitants.

You are certainly not the only one feel uneasy about this. The fx in this video are amazing. I think it is a eye-opener. Specifically, it makes me wonder how long we have to wait before people start manipulating/creating information with cg of this quality.

Re: Robot Cops
Heh, In development now.
The first robots that you're likely to see are military "mules". Bi-pedal robots that can carry heavy loads and can follow troops on foot. Slow but able ot transverse terrain that vehicles wouldn't.
Once they get those working its only a matter of time before they stick guns on them.

Re: Robot Cops
though it's a bit creepy at how real it all looks, you can't deny how amazing these people are at photo-realistic video. it's all well and good to photoshop an image to look real, but to create moving video that does the same thing is just mind boggling. granted the fact most of the videos they show are purposly 'amature quality' looking (like some kinda home camcorder or old broadcast recording) so you can't really concentrate on minute details that would otherwise give CGFX away, but it's still amazing nontheless.
