Letterman: Crispin Glover
In 1987, Glover appeared on Late Night with David Letterman wearing a long wig and platform shoes to promote his new movie River's Edge.
His bizarre appearance was equalled by his strange behavior, which is thought by many to have been influenced by LSD.
Glover later explained this as appearing on the show in-character, participating in the interview as the character of Rubin.

Re: Letterman: Crispin Glover
Actually, (and you should all know that every good nerd start's his sentances this way) this is the character Rubin from the movie Rubin and Ed, not River's Edge (his character was named Layne in that movie, and not quite the character Rubin was.)
The thing I don't get is why he's on letterman as Rubin when Rubin and Ed was released 6 years after Back to the Future...

Re: Letterman: Crispin Glover
The problem with that theory is the interview was in 1987, and the movie Rubin and Ed came out in 1992, five years later.
I think it's more likely that Crispin was really on acid during the interview, and used that kind of experience when he played the character of Rubin later.

Re: Letterman: Crispin Glover
Interesting theory, but why would he be dressed exactly like Rubin is in the movie released 5 years later?
Personally, I'm still not convinced that he was on LSD because of the fact that he looks just like Rubin from the movie.
Not that I'm familiar with the effects of LSD. I'd be curious as to what someone who was very familiar (not just "I did it once") thought of Crispin's mannerisms.

Re: Letterman: Crispin Glover
The theory would be that he modeled that character AFTER appearing that way on the show, and realized he had been so bizarre it would make a great persona for a character (plus, easy for him to act that way) :)
Plus, he could take a tab of acid to help if necessary heh.
Or, he did purposely dress like that character, and took acid to help with the vibe, but broke down and lost it under the influence.

Now if we can just find the tripped Farrah Fawcett interview. I looked everywhere, but only found pictures.

kirk and letterman
That's quite a picture. I'd love to know who thought of melding Letterman and Kirk...and why!

Re: kirk and letterman
I was going to call this Headline something like "Troubles with Letterman" or "Letterman Troubles", then I thought about the Star Trek episode, "The Trouble With Tribbles". It all came together after that.

Re: Letterman: Crispin Glover
This might be the first website I've found with virals, etc, that actually has interesting, polite comments in the comments section. The typical posts look like the following
"FIRST POST!!!!! SUCK IT, FAGGOTS!"
"FAKE!"
"STOP STEALING FROM [other website}"
This is quite a relief - glad i registered.

Um...we should prolly keep this "polite" reputation on the DL, MPecsek. Otherwise it blows our street cred...
But, no, really, glad to have another happy Milk & Cookie member join up. We're always looking for more ppl to brainwash...er, I mean, amuse...

My advice is run before it's too late for you. As for me, I gladly went with it, no brainwashing here, heh heh heh.

Re: Letterman: Crispin Glover
Actors have all sorts of characters and they devlope them for years and years before you(if ever) see them in a movie.
No one would take acid then go on a talk show dressed like that. He was obviously acting, and in costume, and doing quite a good job of it as it fooled everyone even Letterman.
If he was on a good dose of acid he probably just wouln't talk much.
