How to Talk to Black People
The U.S. Olympic Track & Field trials are being held in Eugene, Oregon, this summer. To prepare, some people there ACTUALLY started a committee to teach the city how to talk to black people.

Retarded, unfunny and insensitive. Used to be a time where I could come to M&C and not see crap like this. Uniques going down?
Might as well just go to SpikedHumor or Ebaums if M&C is going in this direction. They already own low morality.

aww can it, videos like this are few and far between on this site, and the community is intelligent enough to respond to videos in an objective and sophisticated manner that doesnt onvolve calling everything fake or using racial slurs. If that doesnt make m and c above the rest i dont know what does, you can still see the better documentaries and intersting science info here.

Re: How to Talk to Black People
I find it ironic how you open with the statements "retarded" and "insensitive". And don't try to play it off like you meant retarded in another way.
It isn't insensitive if it's making fun of the blatantly racist community who this is based upon. The guys who made the video didn't make it just to be offensive. The offensive content was already there. They only made light of it. As for being unfunny, you have your opinion. I thought it was hilarious, but you're entitled to your own opinions. But calling it "insensitive" is more an accusation than an opinion. Get off your high-horse.

Re: How to Talk to Black People
I'm on the fence as to whether it was a tongue-in-cheek poke at racist assumptions of white people. While there were points that were made with enough irony to be funny, there were other points that seemed to rely on assumptions about black culture that ascribed those cultural traits to the entire race (plus--point 7--really unfunny, and sexist as well). So: mildly amused and somewhat uncomfortable.

Re: How to Talk to Black People
I will agree that lesson 7 was unnecessary and forced. It wasn't funny, and as you said, kind of uncomfortable. I loved the rest of it, though. I find it hard to see it as racist, though, when the black people involved seemed to be enjoying it just as much as the white people. It's really no worse than what SNL's been doing for years.

yeah "retarded" immediately followed by "insensitive" is actually pretty unwittingly funny.I found the video to be quite well done BTW.

Re: How to Talk to Black People
Classic. I love it how White people are the first the call things racist when all it is trying to do is make light of how overly sensative people are. Must be weird to be ashamed of being who you are? Wouldn't know. Racism is a joke in Canada. Politically Correct for the Win :-P
