There's an audio clip out in the ether which includes a little DeForest Kelly commentary of how it got to be so routine that he'd change it up occasionally to, "Jim, he's dead." Then it continues onto other similar segments of the original series with, "He's dying" and then "We're dying." Truly funny to listen to.
Though I love the TV series, ya gotta admit that 70's TV was pretty hokey.
